Where are good areas to stay (as far as Hotels), and also what areas to avoid? Is downtown  decent?

Same as far as looking around & seeing the sites- what areas should we avoid?

Polaris area has a lot of hotels. Don't go to Easton Mall at night, it's overrun with the urban yoot.

COSI and the zoo for the kids (and adults too), the zoo has a waterpark as well although I've never personally gone there.

Stay on the north side... for the higher end hotels... like one said stay away from Easton at night... in that case stay away from the east side period at night... if you look at a road map of Columbus 270 what we call toilet bowl.. it's like the deeper you go in the more shit there is..  as for Downtown at night it is not the place for kids and family nothing really down there.. but the arena district is very nice for the big over 21 kids...

The Columbus Zoo is really nice and Zoombeezie Bay (waterpark) is next door. Both are near Dublin.

This weekend Dublin is putting on the Dublin Irish Festival, which is a pretty cool event. You could also tour Ohio State Campus. Even if you aren't a fan of the team/ school, it's a neat place to visit. The Shoe is quite a sight.

There's a Magic Mountain at Polaris, kids would like that I'm sure. The Cols. Zoo is great, don't miss that for a family destination in Dublin.

Lots of great restaurants around, shopping (for the wife), etc.

The state fair is going on now too. Near by is the Ohio Historical Society museum that has some pretty cool stuff. I'm surprised no one has mentioned a visit to Vance's for some quality time fondling a black gun or six.

For some cheap fun with the kids, visit the Emerald Fields playground in Dublin.

It's a little hard to find but a great park.  And it's just a couple miles south of the intersection of the Sawmill Parkway and Powell Road (State Route 750), which is an area with lots of good places to eat.

What do your kids like to do ?  COSI is a nice science museum for young families.  The Columbus Clippers are the Cleveland Indians minor league baseball team, and play in a 4 yr old stadium, heck I even like it and I am not a big baseball fan.

Make sure to visit the field of corn in Dublin.  We have a very nice Zoo.  I take my kids almost once a week.

Jeni's Ice Cream in Dublin is fun for kids with all the crazy flavors they have.
