Columbus seems like a nice place for a large city.  I came for the Precision Machining Technology Show.  I haven't seen much of the city but from what I have seen, it's got a lot of charm.

Ohio gets a lot of flak, but I really enjoy it here.

Are you going to PMTS?

Not really our bag, should be called "Screw Machine Technology Show."   I still found some stuff we will be implementing, relatively minor, but good to see in person.

I really should, but fortunately/unfortunately, I'm too busy to free up the time.

I would like to see some new tech that gets me excited about machining again, though.

Coolest stuff I saw just pissed me off because I'll never do any of it  Or, because I already pissed away $10k on FeatureCAM and when I asked the MasterCAM booth to show me why I should switch to them, they blew my mind

My poor opinion of MasterCAM was formed in trade school, and I'm an asshole for letting it sway my opinion now.  I should have explored them further before diving in deeper with Delcam.  They showed me native solid import, true native, not "install Autodesk Design View so we can piggy back it,"  native solid modeling IN the cam software, native machine simulation shipped with machine models, or draw your own, their dialog pages for interrogating and altering tool path stratedgies was lightyears beyond anything in FCAM.

I don't know the cost though, and they wouldn't tell me saying that was the distributer's area, so I may be pissing in the wind, if it's 2x the cost of what I've got then it was out of my budget anyway.

So where's a good place in Columbus to kill a couple hours donating $1 bills to some OSU student working her way through college?

Answer: Kahoots.  Great place to drop some ones
