I live very close to this place. I think I should be able to shoot there...

Well, if you're a trustee you can hunt in there. Some parts are marked for unexploded ordnance. 5 or 6 years ago I had some work in there. While in there I had to go down to one spot where they were screening dirt that had old ammo or ordnance in it. The screen machine had sand bags all around it in case something went off in the screen. Interesting stuff.

The center part I think is now National Guard training area, and the outer perimeter is still federal. Lots of NG activity around the old bunkers. Did some power and temp control work in those last year. I think there is a big rotation going in there this week too.

I'll see if I can find my pictures from the last couple years of that place.

My brother had his name pulled for the hunt. He had to leave for the navy and never got to hunt there. A friend of mine had the fence in his back yard. We had a party there and heard what we thought was a tank comming. We were all excited and ran to the fence. It turned out to be a bull dozer. I went in there as a little kid for a church thing. I dont remember much at all about the place. I would love to take a walk in there..

The Ohio National Guard has been converting Ravenna into a its primary training site for several years, that includes live fire ranges for all smalll arms and crew served weapons. So if your planning on sneaking onto the base I would stay out of the impact areas if I were you, .50 cal rounds can ruin your whole day.

More years ago then I want to count.
My brother an I got tags pulled to hunt.
It was damn cold. Got a nice Doe.
Gave it to my brother. It was my second of the year.
Yes! I would go back any time.
It would be like hunting the Cuyahoga Valley national Park.

I'm pretty close.  Know a couple that were drawn for the hunt years ago, but I've never been myself.

Check out JeepSkool,  they're close, gun friendly.    Decent range, camping, riding, jeeping ect.

I've shot there. A deer that is.  Got a permit for a hunt a few years back.  During the briefing they tell you whatto do if you find grenades, missiles, etc.  Makes for an interesting hunt, looking for deer in mine field!  It has also become so overgrown and thick that I understand the hunting has gone down hill.  Those critters are smart and it does not take long for them to learn how to get away from us.

I hunted Plumbrook also, and they do background checks and search your vehicle before they let you enter the premises, I beleive Ravenna is the same. So, if you find a legal way on to that property to shoot, please leat the rest of us know how....................
