On Monday I called to make an appointment for my CCW. I get the recording that said " leave you name and phone number and we will call you back in 2-3 days" So I left my name and number.
I called neighboring Hamilton County and they said you can come in today (Monday, same day) at 1:00, 1:15, 1:30 ..... I get there 15 minutes early and they got me in right away and out in 15 minutes. They called me today and said my CCW was ready to pick up.That's a 4 day turn around. As of this post Butler County still hasn't called me. Butler County needs to get their shit together. |

It sounds like Simon's team has finally got their act together. Also on tonight's news they stated that the Butler County Sheriff's budget has been cut by 1.8 million for the rest of the year, and that all services, including CHL applications will be running slower. |

You have to make an appointment in Bulter County now? When I applied for mine (EARLY 2009), there were open application days on Tuesday and Thursday IIRC. Come in, take a number wait your turn and file your paperwork/get fingerprinted.
When did that process change? |

Law says Sheriff has to issue within 45 days, once "all paperwork and training is complete". It does NOT say anything about how long they can put off appointments. I would go to an adjacent county then. ![]() As you can see, he did go to another county. It's sad about Butler County's non performance. |

Quoted: What county does your brother live in? It might be better for him to go to Montgomery County. MoCo is great. Deputy Ridgeway is a really nice guy. We talked Glocks when I picked up my license (took 2 weeks). He said they'd lobbied for years for Glocks to replace their S&W's. Plus you just walk in... this idea of Butler Co. setting dates is weird and maybe illegal. The law dictates that they have to take applications for XX hours (I forget how many) a week and post the times that the office is open. |

(A) ...A sheriff shall accept a completed application form and the fee, items, materials, and information specified...at the times and in the manners described in division (I) of this section. ... (I) A sheriff shall accept a completed application form or renewal application, and the fee, items, materials, and information specified in divisions (B)(1) to (5) or division (F) of this section, whichever is applicable, and shall provide an application form or renewal application to any person during at least fifteen hours a week and shall provide the web site address at which the pamphlet described in division (B) of section 109.731 of the Revised Code may be found at any time, upon request. The sheriff shall post notice of the hours during which the sheriff is available to accept or provide the information described in this division. So, you can interpret this as you wish, but in my amateur opinion, section I doesn't really spell out "the manner" in which applications must be accpeted. |

My brother has to wait 3 weeks for Warren County. Since Hamilton County isn't a neighboring countyfor him it's his quickest route. I have to say Hamilton County sure did process mine quick. When I wanted to apply for mine, Warren County was backed up for several weeks. I went to Clermont County, and application accepted same day on the spot. It did take 43 days to process, though. Problem with my prints, they had to be in ink, and sent to a central area for processing. Butler County has had a drastic budget cut and lost 40+ employees at the Sheriff's Office. I don't think they have the current manpower to handle the applications as quick as some other counties. |
