I took my wife there to try out her new Walther P22.  She had several failures to eject.  He came out to the range to see if he could help her, gave her a couple of different brands of ammo for free to try in it, and even took it back into the store and cleaned the chamber.  None of his efforts fixed her problem, but he went above and beyond the call of duty.  He made what could have been a horrible shooting experience for my wife as pleasant as possible.  Seeing as how this is the first time I had got her to shoot in several years that really means a lot to me.

With a little bit of coaching I had her shooting the chest and head out of a target at 15 feet.      She was very proud of herself, and I thought she did an excellent job for a newbie.  She said  she had fun today, and is already talking about going again.

Kudos to Steve and the Powder Room.

I have heard a few people knock the Powder Room but I like the place. It is not state of the art but the few times I went there to shoot it was empty and cheap.

We got in on a Saturday at about lunchtime without waiting inline.  That is worth something.  Plus, the treatment my wife received really impressed me.

The last time I went to the Powder Room, I had to wait an hour. They were really busy. I went to Blackwing the next time and shot for 2 hours. 2 hours at the Powder Room is the same cost as Blackwing. I personally would fix up the Powder Room range, it has seen a lot of use.

We started to go to Blackwing today, but their website said they had a Glock Shooting Sports match today.  That is why we went to the powder room.  The range could use a little TLC, but I was very appreciative of how my wife was treated today.  I posted this thread in the Ohio Hometown in addition to telling him thankyou in person.  I believe in trying to do right by people who have treated you well or help you out.

yeah, the guys at the Powder Room are cool, I just wish they had the money to fix/maintain the range.

Great place to go and BS with good old boys, too.

They were the only game in town for a long time... until NASR opened up about 10 years ago.

The Powder Room is good place.  I always get my FFL transfers done through them.

I noticed on their website that they did transfers for $25.  It seems like most places want 40-50 anymore, WTF?

they used to be only $20 a few years ago. I walked into New Albany one time and asked them what they charged, they said $100 per transfer, I made a smirk ()and walked right out the door.

That's their fee for class 3 transfer...  A normal transfer is either $35 or $45... $25 for members

I used to shoot at the Powder Room all the time but had to quit when I started shooting my AR15 more.  No rifles allowed...  At one point they were going to install a single rifle lane but for some reason the idea got nixed.  Nice guys though.  Did a LOT of $20 transfers through them.

I was always a bit wary of the "jet engine" style heaters they got in there in the winter.    I figured one day I'd be at the range when one of the homey's decides to toss a round in there for fun.

I went in to Blackwing at around 12:30..  They said they were going to shut down the pistol range at around 2...  So, I shot for an hour and a half, which was fine with me..  I didn't have to wait at all.  I rented a gun, and purchased ammo there...  ($12 for a box of .38 WWB?!?)

But, I really like Blackwing, it's super duper close to my girlfriends, so that's a benefit.  The employees are really friendly.  Especially to my girlfriend..............  you know, I think I'll stop taking her in there......

The closet indoor range to my house is Ohio Valley Outdoors.  But, they seem to try and rip people off with their prices.

It's always a nice to see a buisness where employees are willing to go above and beyond and help people out.  Last night we ate at a certain mix-your-own-stirfry resteraunt at Easton.  The waitress sucked, we opened 6 packages of chop sticks to find them to be moldy.  The nice women working the ingredients "bar" took the tongs out of the shrimp container, used them to mix the steak, and then put them back in the shrimp container....  I'm alergic to shrimp, so i was kinda PO'd.  So, we complained to the manager when we were about to pay our bills...  He was very apologetic..  and said that our meals were on him ($40 for me and my girl, $40 for another couple) and then he gave us both $20 in gift certificates.  That made my meal taste a WHOLE lot better.  Then tonight, we ate at Cottage Inn pizza in Delaware just before the buffet was supposed to be over, the people working (owner of the buisness was there also) took wondeful care of us, cooked pizza to order and were just wonderfully polite to us.

If you screw up, make things right.  But prefferably don't screw up.

Glad you had a wonderful time.
