Anyone ever been to one of these? Worth making a trip?

Hard to imagine a gun show there, but may folks in Ross County love to hunt and shoot.  I am a bit skeptical about a gun show being held in a hotel and in the most financially depressed part of the state, Southeastern, Ohio.

I have never been to one, but I am picturing shotguns, lever actions, and revolvers after visiting the site.

Hmm..  Chillicothe is about 50 miles south of Columbus, not on the Ohio River, which would be the most depressed area of the state due to the lack of industry after the coal mines shut down.  Take Athens for example, the largest employers in the county is Ohio University, 2nd largest: Wal-Mart.
Chillicothe is home to Adena Regional Medical center, it handles patients from all over the south east part of the state.  Kenworth, which is one of the highest paying non-technical jobs in the state.  Westvaco, another very high paying non-technical job.  Pike County has the nuke plant and a couple other manufacturers.
That being said, we're a bunch of rednecks that love to shoot, and spend most of our expendable income on firearms etc.
Did I take offense to your comment, yes.  Sorry if I went overboard, but I thought maybe you'd like to know a little more about the area.  I just get offended when people from "up north" assume that anywhere south of 71 is Deliverance territory.  We all live in Ohio, we're all rednecks.  Just ask anyone from either of the coasts.

As far as the gun show, I don't know. I didn't see any advertisement for the show at all this week.  My father told me about it Saturday when I talked to him on the phone.  He saw signs in town.  I was in Delaware all weekend (shot bowling pins at Blackwing on friday, and tried out a 638 today, stopped by Vances on Saturday).  We did have a PRO show here a few years back.  If my memory serves me correctly, it seemed pretty busy.  It was in an old Big Bear that was sitting empty.  I don't know if PRO did that well with it.  It was probably 5-7 years ago, they havn't been back, so I'd say no, they didn't do too well.  But, a good central location like C-Bus does work better for business.

Ohioan,

Lighten up a bit.  I grew up between Ross and Pike County, so believe me, I get it!  I made a generalization about Southeastern Ohio, specifically because of places like Jackson, Athens, Pike and Scioto counties.  In short, there's not much work between Columbus and Cincinnati, so people generally don't have much cash to spend at gun shows or much of anything else these days.  When Mead, Kenworth, Alcoa, US Shoe and a plethora of companies were situated in and around Chillicothe years ago, these were definately better times for many in this region.

Did anyone make it to the gun show???

Oh well, have to hit the PRO Gun Show at the end of the month in Columbus since the Chillicothe show didn't sound like it panned out!
