I went to Old English today.I ask how much per 1000.all you hear is whats the price today. like it was gas prices.old dude says*well the price jumps everyday*I know this guy is full of it.They wanted $25.00 per 1000 plus tax.I think I saw Large Rifle primers made by Winchester at the last Goodmans show.I think they want $17.00 for 1000 plus I get to see COWBOY AND HOOCHIE THANG |

I feel your pain, I bought (1000) CCI small pistol primer there saturday afternoon... WTF !!???!! $23.99 + tax + $25 something. Asked the fella if they had 5000ct sleeves, he says "they is lucky to get these", me thinking ----> yea right.... typically shipped in 5000ct containers in the first place. Shoting the M11 is gonna hurt, I gonna have to fire up the pot and start casting 124 RNL again. Went to Gander Mountain, prices is just as bad, but I would not buy primers there, the cartons and 100 packs is scattered all about, I opened 1 pack, and it was missing 1 primer, and what is to keep some idiot from swapping the trays in the loose packs.. Those need to be behind a counter. Went 1 evening to buy a RCBS rifle die set, first 1 I opened was missing the seat die, left it with the counter boy. |

I think we're starting to see the first signs that reloading is right behind factory and surplus ammo with the price surge. Primers in Central Ohio are up to $25/K now too. I'm going to take up golf again in the near future if this continues. Shooting is becoming a rich man's sport. |

And look for the prices to go even high'r. Thats what I've been hearing from every one. Even my out of state connections are telling there shooters to brace them selves.Buy now and maybe save a few bucks. The lead is going to be the killer latter in the year. We where told to look for about a 40% increase above what the TODAY price is. A lot of the guys that shoot our Spring Trap/Sheet Season, have not singed up yet. All saying its getting "To Costly". And I agree... Look's like its going to be Walleye Fishing for me. |

I shoot a lot of trap. About 45,000 registered targets in the last 3-1/2 years not counting practice. Probably another 10,000. Lead(magnum shot) has gone from $12./bag(25lb) to $25./bag and most of that increase happened this year. Primers for shotshells, same thing. I was using Winchester 209 religiously until they got to $140/5000. Remingtons are just as high. Switched to Fiocchi for $85/5000. No solution for lead though. Don't panic buy people. Just hold on and buy only what you need. The lead price will come back down. As for the primers, winchester could care less about reloaders. They will tell you they want to sell loaded shells. They run primers for reloading components after all other orders are filled. |
