I've been in an argument for 2 days with this flippin imbecile.  This guy knows everything, but knows nothing.  Just runs his mouth all the time. Anyhow, now he is saying, Lucas County (Toledo) is going to require a psychological test before issuing a CCW!!  He further states that the counties can also decide what hoops you have to jump thru.  Cant wait to hit this dolt in the face with a soft boiled egg

Well, it sounds plausible.  Being Toledo and all.  They will definitely throw up roadblocks and I'm sure they will be challenged in court.

There is some language in the bill regarding mental health that could open the door for them to try that.

To my knowledge, the way the Bill is worded, it doesn't give counties and leeway for coming up with their own versions of what was passed.  It basically says, this is the way it's going to be, and all counties have to comply by this amount of time after it passes.  It even tells them what they have to do with the money from the fees.

Also, I think the sections that talk about mental health, are referring to a pre-existing condition that would disqualify a person from being deemed competent to carry a concealed weapon.  The issue they're running into is getting those records made available to Sheriff's Departments, when they've traditionally been fairly highly guarded.  Toledo is ludicrous in some of their actions, but they're not going circumvent State Law.

No one needs to get their CCW permit in Lucas County.

If you live in Lucas County get your CCW in Wood, Ottawa, Henry, or Fulton counties.

But there are no "local hoops" allowed in the act.

I've heard the Sheriff in Cuyahoga county is going to be pulling crap to make it difficult.  I'll either be going to Medina or Lorain county for mine.

That was my argument with the dolt. It's state law and the city cant change that.  You wouldnt believe the shit this guy came up with.

Why don't you just wait till you get yours and then shove it in his face?

That's exactly what I plan on doing.  He tried to say that along with the fees to the county(45), there will be a state fee, 35 dollar fee for the background check, 300 for the psych test, 300 for the CCW class, and 100/hour for the range time.

Now I understand the CCW class can vary in price, but this guy is a complete DOLT

The guy is a moron.  Lot of those around.

Go to the OFCC web site and print off the bill.  Read it.  Have the moron SHOW you where it says the crap he is spouting.  Why can't anyone READ the bill??

Now I WILL agree that some counties will try to circumvent the law.  Lawsuits WILL be required to force these idiots to OBEY the law.  The courts will be busy for several years cleaning up this convoluted cluster flop.

Simple suggestion, go to a contiguous county where there is not a bad attitude.

I told you the guy was a complete imbecile.  The bad thing is, he is a gun owner.  One of these types that, "as long as it doesnt pertain to him, the hell with the rest of ya"

I actually read the letter from the Attorney General to him.  This shit bag wanted to argue that to.

I finally just hung up on him....no sense argueing with an idiot.

The really funny thing is....he is always argueing with someone in our group.  So one of the guys prints out some business cards that say

" I argued with RXXX FXXXXXXX"
        SIGNED____________________

on the back side they said

          "AND I WON!!!"

This guy went ballistic when he started seeing them floating around...hahaha...some people never learn

I used to work with an asshat just like that. Got so mad at me one day he kicked one of the trash dumpsters. I laughed at him so hard I almost fell off my fork lift. Needless to say he barely spoke to me after that, which I considered a good thing.

Anyone got a "rating" of the county sheriffs?  At worst, a list of their political parties?

I'd just as soon not support Socialist Party Democratic Party sheriffs.
