As the title states ill be moving there sometime within the next few months or so. I was looking for some suggestions as to where to rent housing, ive heard some suggestions around the Temecula, and Murietta areas?
Nextly I am well aware Commiefornia is very anti-gun so for the time being all my firearms I brought back to my home of record and will be traveling there with just a bow, I was thinking that being that firearms need to be registered with the state so my plan would be that if I wanted a firearm I would purchase a shotgun (being the shotgun seems to be the least hated of firearms) and then probably sell it when I leave as to be free and clear of the whole mess when i leave. Is this the best route to travel? |

I'm here in Oceanside. Retired Marine. Active duty here at Pendleton '99-'11 and retired '11-present. The past 5 years I've worked on base as a contractor.
What unit you're going to on Pendleton is going to determine where you want to live. Also, single? Married? Kids? This is a big factor for extra curricular activities and schools. Temecula/murrietta area is going to suck big time on the commute going through the weapons station/Fallbrook then the 15. Not unheard of 1.5-2 hours sometimes. San Mataeo/Onofre/Horno- probably San Clemente/Oceanside Pulgas/Las flores/Del Mar- probably Oceanside/Carlsbad/vista Mainside/airfield area/margarita- probably Oceanside/Carlsbad/Vista/Temecula/murrieta With that being said, you really could live in any of those places and commute anywhere on base, but you might spend a whole bunch of time driving. Oceanside has changed immensely for the better in the last 15 years so don't go by anyone's stories of how bad it is if they haven't been here in the last decade or so. PM me or post here if you want more specific info about advice where to live. |

I have a house in Vista, and have lived in North San Diego County for 20 years.
Fallbrook/Bonsall/N Vista if you want to rent a house with a little land. More mild climate and rural. Temecula/Murrietta if you want a house/condo with little to no land...plus hot summers. Carlsbad/S. Vista if you want nicer climate, expect to pay top dollar for rentals. Oceanside has some nice areas too, but you'll have the higher rents again. Your budget will determine the best bang for your rental buck. Shooting....Rainbow Range is a small gun range, Pala Indian res has a larger gun range, both are open to public. Iron Sights is a public indoor range in Oceanside with rentals. They all have matches...including uspsa, idpa, steel, carbine, etc.. Desert is full of BLM land. And the gun laws over the past 10 years have been interesting to say the least.... Last but not least...hopefully you like craft beer....breweries are practically everywhere . |
