Made it through NH, MA, NY, PA, OH, IN, IL, and now resting for the night in Iowa.

Saw a giant Brownell's sign about 50 miles east of Des Moines.

Driving a U-Haul, so far paid $133 in tolls and $620 for gas. The worst tolls were in NY - cost $68.80. Cheapest was IL - $1.70

Should be there Fri night or Saturday.

Watch your speed in the flat states and along those long and boring highways. I helped my friend drive his car back from the Chicago area and he just couldn't keep his lead foot off the pedal even where the speed limit was 75mph. He got a nice $200 ticket. I kept it within 5mph of the limit and was fine the whole way to Irvine.

Thanks. I don't think this old beast of a truck can break the speed limit. It's packed with everything we own and pulling a 2,000 lb car hauler with a 2,800 lb car on it. It sucks up a lot of gas though, about 9 MPG.

Remember once you hit the CA border that you are 55mph when towing, no matter the posted limit.
Where you headed?

Where at in RC?  I'm in Alta Loma, AKA Rancho Cucamonga. I have two kids going to local schools, let me know and I'll get the kids to come over and welcome them. My son is 12 and youngest daughter is 15.

I don't have the address in front of me right now, but we'll be near RC High School on the north side of the 210, a little east of Los Osos.

Did any of your kids know Nick Hurtado? He'd be about your daughter's age, passed away in an ATV accident in 2008.

I'll ask my daughter when I see her. Your a few miles north east of us, my daughter goes to Los Osos, my son goes to Vineyard Jr High.

We finally made it. What a relief. Wife, MIL, daughter, and pups drove the Tacoma.

The U-Haul is a beast!

The wagon train

I had my younger brother (sunglasses) and son (in the middle) to keep me company.
