Pls help me with an issue of transferring a shotgun from an ffl to an ffl near Milpitas.....I want to buy and send my
daughter a shotgun, but when I called a nearby range they told me it would cost more than $120 to do the transfer...
Is that correct...I live in Ohio and never paid that much....help.

From my local gun store:
"Non-Local firearm transaction.  A customer buys a firearm from another
dealer or private party, either in person or online.  The firearm is
shipped to us, and the buyer comes into our store to complete the
transaction.  The buyer is responsible for the DROS fee, a $75
processing fee, plus applicable sales tax.  In addition, if the firearm
does not include a CA Certified gun lock, the buyer must purchase one
from us."

So that would be $25.00 (DROS fee) + $75.00 (dealer fee) + tax (Milpitas is 8.625%) = a lot of $.
You should look into an intrafamilial transfer.  Not sure how it works with an out of state transfer though.
See below, from this site.

"Interstate Intrafamily transfers need FFL located in CA

INTERSTATE transfers
are generally NOT FFL-free, because Federal law says so.  So, out of
state family members MAY transfer guns to family living in California,
but almost always must use the services of a CA-licensed, in-California
FFL -- the 'OPLAW' form does not work for INTERSTATE transfer.

Interstate intrafamilial transfer of handguns is legally subject
to the 1-in-30-days rule, because it must run through DROS; there seems
to be some confusion.  See the Calguns discussion thread.

After you use a CA FFL to facilitate your interstate transfer, do
NOT file the 'OPLAW' form as well; DROS accomplishes the state-level
details.  The 'OPLAW' form is not sufficient and not necessary."

Yeah, shipping a gun to Cali sucks!!! On another board a guy wanted to send me a little Derringer type pistol as part of a gear trade and I had to say no because the transfer fee was going to cost more than the gun was worth!

Why don't you fly out to visit your daughter, and bring her a present???? Use the intafamilial transfer, and be done with it. Fuck the FFL who wishes to rape you. All you need is a simple locking case, which she can store her new shotgun in. Problem solved.

Good idea, aside from the whole federal felony issue.

Only if both parties are residents of the same State.

It's Correct. California FFL is a rip off for anything you don't buy directly from them or private party transfer.

Welcome to CA.

Could you send her the money and info on the shotgun with a place in CA that she could purchase it herself?
