I got out to Angeles Range to fire a couple rifles today. Enjoyed the 45 minute drive until I pulled into the parking lot and saw most of the firing lanes looked busy.

I forgot that Thursday is half price for your range fees, so I guess everyone else remembered.

Needless to say, I did find a lane and enjoy shooting today. It was kinda interesting to see it so busy during a weekday.
Cost me around $6.00 to shoot

Anyone else make it out today?

What I was shooting :)

Haven't been out there on a thursday for a month or two since I've been tied up with work. . Great place to cap off some rounds. Some times on thursdays they shut down the rifle side for SWAT or FBI training after 1pm.

I wonder who else shoots out there that frequents this board?

Our local Cali training guy Stanton operates out there. So you might run into him at some point as well.

Angeles is about 15 minutes from my house; AND it's a great place to shoot.

I see a lot of complaints about the Range Nazis there, but the only people I have ever seen getting yelled at are the ones that deserve to be getting yelled at; and I support that 100%.

Thr Range Nazis are Not Nazis at all there. They don't fuck with you at all unless you cross the line to do some stupid shit and walk up to the shooting benches during a cease fire. They do their job well unlike the Fucktards at Clark County in Vegas.

I used to be the guy that harassed the FBI and other letter agencies on their fancy MG's and suppressors while us peons can't get anything.

What the hells makes them so special....

I stopped that when they briefly detained me and turned into gestapos.

I remember the low price thursdays but also the rang nazis finger fucking my SB23 registered stuff and also taking ammo out of my cases to make sure I wasn't shooting AP or steel core.

I told them I had none of it but I guess they didn't believe me.

I try my best to respect them but it just irks me when they play with cool toys and we can't.

My appologies; when I refered to the Range Nazis, I really ment to say "Range Nazis" as they are sometimes refered to by "other shooters"; but not this shooter. There are a lot of places to shoot that I would not even consider taking 1st timers to. Angeles is not one of them, and most of that has to do with their "Range Marshals". Those guys are the best.

Took my daughter there last saturday. she's going through growing pains and the rift between us is starting to grow.

But at least activities like this can keep us together. As long as we keep practicing together at least we'll have thi to share.

Angeles is a nice range.

There is also sporting clays, and a private club as well.

Years ago, my ex GF was the manager, and lived on-site. We used to shoot a metric shit ton! Good times.  She was the one who
got me into the NRA instructor courses. The range was getting all their RO's NRA certified, and I got in the course at the group
rate. Classes were held in her living room!

It's also a good value to shoot there. Cheap daily rate, instead of that by the hour nonsense at some of the local indoor ranges.

I'm usually there on Thursdays with my kids (when out of school). I've also taken a few friends and their kids on that day as well.

Great range and the Range Officers are good guys IMHO.

True, there are a lot of people shooting on Thursday's. Ammo seems decently priced but noting like online prices.

Is this the place you guys are referring to? http://www.yelp.com/biz/angeles-shooting-range-sylmar

I live in Los Angeles (in Koreatown) and work in Culver City. I am starting my first AR build soon!

I have recently got into guns, and I find myself spending more money than I anticipated! (Purchased a Glock G19 earlier this year and have been able to put about 1,500 rounds through it.)

I'm looking for a good place to take my AR to the range. I checked out L.A. gun club, but that place was too small and more dangerous than south central. (Seriously though, I do NOT like the LA gun club because it seems like they rent guns out to ANYONE with a valid ID. Fingers on triggers at the range ALL THE TIME.) I've been going to LAX Firing Range usually after work because I work in Culver City. While I know LAX Firing Range allow people to bring their rifles, I want to try shooting at longer distances and in the outdoors where the AR isn't going to blast people's ears off indoors.

Also, are there any other places you guys would recommend?

Angeles has steel targets that go way way far away. Get a bench at the left side of the range and give it a try. Do yourself a favor and shoot on paper up to 100 yards first so that your sights are dialed in
