I'm fairly new to firearms (1-2 years) and I'm hooked. I used to not care about gun control issues. Now I'm aware, I see the truths about law abiding gun owners.
The CRPA and Calguns are great organizations to help our cause but we need to help on our own too. If everyone turns 1-3 (responsible) non gun owners into gun owners then our numbers will significantly grow.. Take them out shooting, show them you're not a gun toting psycho, remind them the importance of protecting a right. Expanding to non gun owner should yield good results. We pass it, they pass it, and soon we've multiplied. |

Belonging to the gun rights groups (I've belonged to three for over 20-years now) is good but getting more people to see guns in a favorable light is the best idea. Voters who understand that gun control is not crime control are the best thing we can have for our cause. Liberals need victim voters and twist the news, the discussion, and the laws to create more victims that need their big-government help to protect them.
Some gang banger looking to rob a 7-11 with a handgun doesn't care about concealed carry laws, doesn't care if he's within 1000 feet of a school, doesn't care if there's a magazine capacity limit law. He's willing to commit murder for a couple hundred dollars, do you really think that he cares about the kind of laws we in California pass to make the victim voters feel good? These laws don't effect them, they effect us. We already have some pretty clear and powerful laws on the books making murder illegal, think the extra misdemeanor time is going to change that gang banger's doped up mind? These laws that limit - actually the word is infringe - the lawful citizens right to keep and bear arms ought to be made un-Constitutional. An armed population of regular productive citizens is what the criminals fear. |

I agree. The anti-gun legislature only affects people like you and me: the ones who actually follow laws. Criminals don't follow laws
Let's start simple. Our best candidates for recruits are our tax paying, productive, law abiding, family men and women. You will have a better chance of getting your worthy recruits involved than a large special interest group will. We do need the NRA, CRPA, CalGuns, etc groups but we are the ones who will plant the seed! |

Please don't turn this thread into a sarcastic mockery. Let's stay on topic and keep it simple. I have unintentionally recruited 2 people this year and they both unintentionally recruited one each. All from a hobby/sports perspective. Imagine what we could all do if we took this seriously and aimed for individual goals.
Recruit the right people and have them recruit the right people. Yacht clubs and country clubs do it with much success. So shall we. |

Good, but keep in mind, just because someone likes guns doesn't mean they are "pro gun" and "really" understand the laws and their negative effect. |

They all ended up buying one. And it helps in many ways. One example is even if it's just by increasing the number of responsible owners. Then even if crime rates the stay the same the ratio of crime to the amount of responsible owners decreases.
Or even someone who just likes to shoot at the range occasionally for some alone time away from his/her spouse pays attention to legislature because they don't want their hobby jeopardized. I'm not saying go set up a booth in front of the grocery store. All I'm saying is think of your reputable friends who would enjoy it and say "hey. Join me at the range this weekend. I'll even buy ammo and targets. You drive". Something. Anything. Maybe they'll get hooked too. |
