So now it is against the rules to even ask for pics from a seller in the marketplace. All requests for pics or more info have to be sent by PM. Post a request for pics , location or anything other than a question regarding a 'material aspect' of the sale and it will be deleted. I'm sorry, but pics are the best way to discern condition of the item, which is indeed a 'material aspect' of the sale. Sorry, weak ass mini bitch over. |

That's retarded. Why would they do that? What really is the point of doing that? Hell if I know? Could be that the mods are retarded jackwads? The poster above me speaks the truth! +1... Hope Paul doesn't see this... lmao.... If your posting in EE, I feel its a must to post pics of the item... not a lot of pics just at least one pic of the item. If the "buyer" wants more pics they can PM it... but deleteing the item from the list because someone request more detail is shinaniganz... sometimes power gets to peoples heads... lol |

Nor is asking where the seller is located if they didn't put the info in their add or profile. These fall within the posted Marketplace rules as they are both material aspects of the sale. |

I hate all the whining and "the cops are gonna get you" crap on Calguns. I also think it is total bullshit that the site is censored for swearing. I have a home in CA and have registered AWs. It is a sure bet that everytime I go to a public range that someone will pull out some Calguns flowchart and tell me that I am going to jail over having 30 round mags and no bullet button. I had some kid tell a uniformed local LEO that he saw me shooting an illegal AW a few lanes over and thought it was his civic right to report me. What this Magpul decal covered tac-gear wearing wanker didn't know is that the local LEO is an old friend of mine. He told the kid that he was going to go over and investigate and motioned him to come along. He came over to me and told me "Oh my God. You got one of them illegal guns". Then he told me to put out my hand. Turn it upside down. Then he slapped it and told me to "never break CA laws again". Then he told the kid to fuck off and mind his own business. I also had another Calgunner tell me that the "hi-caps" I was shooting with my 1911 (10 round Wilsons) were a felony to own. Calguns website says so. Don't get me wrong, I believe that the guy that owns Calguns can do whatever he wants with his site. It is his private property. I just am not a fan of advocating nannying and creating this McCarthy-esque mentality where there is so much misinformation and paranoia. I don't need the "internetz" approval for anything. |

The funny thing is that they complain incessantly about the "nanny state", but love to perpetuate it when they are the nannies. When a website promotes the Second Amendment but doesn't respect the First, you have to wonder. |

i don't like selling on calguns either, too many people post an "ill take it" or send a PM stating they want to buy your item but then wont send payment or return PM's. because you are not allowed to post negative feedback for a buyer that does not send payment many members will post "I will take it" to make sure they are first in line & then shop around for many days looking for a better deal or just trying to decide if they really want it. if they find a better deal or decide days later that they changed their mind about buying your item you just never hear from them again & calguns is OK with that.
i had one item that had three buyers in a row all say they would take it then never sent payment or replied to my e-mails asking about payment. i waisted a month waiting on payment from three separate buyers, all who knew i was selling the item to help my mother pay medical expenses because she was recently diagnosed with terminal cancer. i listed the same item here, it was sold in less than an hour & i had payment three days later. with all the bitching going on at calguns about how unfair CA. residents are treated many of them have no problem at all screwing over their own. in my experience about 35% of the people on calguns who say "they will take it" will never send payment. i almost never have that issue here. don't get me wrong, there are some very good buyers & sellers on calguns but you have to know who you are dealing with. I am going to have a TON of fun if I run into anyone like you describe next time I am at the range. Multiple registered ARs including an AR10. Tons of old grandfathered mags for both. But the 30 round Magpuls will really drive them into a fit, maybe I won't divuldge LE status and just see if I can get their heads to go into melt down. |

calguns has become a casualty of the CA AWB. it used to be a good site. once the whole off-list lower thing reached calguns, the site turned to crap. people desperate for some feeling of effectiveness in living with a sucky law, plus some a-hole personalities, together served to consume the once-worthwhile site. the folks over there see what they believe, instead of believing what they see. if you refuse to drink the kool-aid, then the Lord of the Flies jerks its knees into high gear.
oh well. I guess a majority of the folks are happy with their lives over there. just like a majority of the voters keep putting up with the same old crap here in CA. I don't know why they do, but they do. |

Go for it. There are quite a few that are very anti-LE and will see you as "the man" bullying them; so that makes it even funnier. If you shoot with a group of friends that are either older or LE, then they must think that you are a terror cell in training. A Colt lower and dropping Pmags really freaks them out. I guess if I replaced my "snobbish" KAC rail with a UTG one, colored-in the roll markings, and put stickers on the stock it would make it "cool" for them. I don't think that "Colt AR-15 Match Target" decals are available from any of the CA "Cool-Guy Gear" vendors or down at the mall. The Calguns airsofters are missing the "cool" boat on that one. The next time it happens for me, I am going to say "Didn't you hear? The CA AWB has been repealed". just to see how quick all of the threads start on Calguns about that! |
| I have been away from there even more than staying away from here. (and my blood pressure and stress indicators are much much lower, thank you.) Does this mean if I go over there and ask to buy 30 round P-mags and ask them to "send them to me at my department work address", they might react negatively? (even though I'm not an LEO?) |

Quoted: Calguns is useful for those living in California. Is it really much harder to send a PM than make a post asking for pictures? The forum software alone makes it more user friendly than this one. ARFcom forum software is much better than whatever Cg is using. Search over there sucks, the IM system is not as refined, and they don't even have anything that comes close to the little features we have here, such as new post in a thread notification or OP highlights. Add in the bonus features like email, media storage and chat, and ARFcom blows them out of the water. |

I guess I'm missing something because I don't see anywhere that you can't request photos or more info or anything else. You say in your second sentence that you simply have to do it via the PM button instead of posting in the ad. There is no prohibition so I really don't see what the big deal is here Quoted: So now it is against the rules to even ask for pics from a seller in the marketplace. I like the calguns market place. I'am a big C&R guy and all the couch commandos are always quick to sell those old junk rifles; you know, the ones with a bolt action that gramps or dad gave them. So then they can fund some "tacticool" rifle project. Works for me.

If you are selling, you have to deal with the "i'll take it" only to become "I can't take until two weeks when I get paid. Hold it for me" or just plain vanish when you actually want to close the deal and get paid. I just went through that with 3 PM "I'll buy its" and even had a guy no-show at the FFL to do the transfer. There is no recourse or social stigma with negative feedback on Calguns. These guys don't seem to care. Another time, I had some guy try to trade me a fake Aimpoint for an upper. The guy swore up and down that it was real, but it looked exactly like the clone on Aimpoint's site where they show how to identify a fake. It also had a green dot. The guy claimed that Aimpoint' s picture was wrong and wouldn't show this one because it was a Navy SEALS issue item and was "special". What a wanker! Fake boobs... awesome! If it wasn't for the hassle of shipping, I'd rather sell guns or trade on EE here. I have never had any problems and have found that most ARFCommers are honorable; whether it is buying or selling and have always had a positive experience. |

Lots and lots O' mall ninjas. wanna be bangers, a couple of 88ers and some creepy "It puts the lotion on it's skin or it gets the hose again" folks. Was also warned by somebody I trust that a guy who seems to show up a lot both on the board and at the local ranges is actually associated with a 3 letter .gov agency that we all love around here. I was a pretty active member/donor over there in the early "we are all gonna go to jail for this" days. That place sure has changed, and not for the better. |

Maybe he was just hitting on you. Have you considered not wearing a rainbow flag t-shirt and a speedo when you go to the range? Usually I get the "YOU ARE BREAKING THE LAW!" bunch that either try to tell me that my dropping mags from old Colt RAW is illegal and I'm going to jail. One experience that was pretty funny was: A few years ago, I was at an indoor range in San Diego. My wife's cousin from Italy was with me and we were minding our own business and having a little friendly pistol competition. Some guy comes over and tells us that he is from Calguns and my "Hi-Caps" are illegal and I shouldn't have them or use them. I explained that they were purchased back in 1989 with the Sig that we were shooting and were perfectly legal. This guy said that we had to stop using them or he would call the police on us and "turn us in". We just looked at each other and then told the guy to fuck off and mind his own business. The guy was some college age kid and we just thought he was an idiot. Around a half hour later, we were leaving and a SDPD police officer on his way into the range stopped us. Apparently, this "Calguns" guy called the police and told them that two "Middle Eastern-type" guys were speaking Arabic and using illegal assault weapons. The "Calgunner" gave our descriptions and mistook the Italian we were speaking to each other for Arabic. I don't know where he got "middle eastern" from because both of us have blonde hair. The SDPD officer explained the story he got and that he was on his way to the range for practice when he got the call. We explained who we are and that we aren't Arabs or terrorists. After that was more interested in talking about my old W German Sig P226 (a big Sig fan) than any terrorist threat. We actually went back in and shot with the SDPD officer for a while. He was a cool guy and mentioned that he had heard of other "Calguns" calls at the same range. He told us stories about other well meaning "Calgunners" and we laughed our asses off. The funniest thing about this was the my wife's cousin is a police chief for a region with a large NATO port in Eastern Sicily; served on Berlusconi's anti-terror committee, and was in town as a speaker on anti-terrorist security methods for a port security conference put on by the US Navy and DHS. The whole situation has turned into a big private joke for us. I spoke to him on the phone this morning and was reminded of this experience. We are still laughing about this "calguns" guy. He now answers my phone calls with "As Salaam Alaikum" and I call him "Osama". |
| i have met with a few calgunners to make a sale & most seemed like good guys but i never meet at my house, always at a public place with lots of people. usually at the local gun store or McDonald's parking lot. it's the people online that creep me out the most. with a little work & house cleaning it could be a good site but they seem to be more concerned about swearing than the members who make the place unbearable some days. on the other hand the calguns foundation seems to be doing some good in the courts. |
