Hey guys I have a quick question... I was out with my buddy the other night (local LEO for OC) and he saw my gerber assisted open knife (pic below). Asked to see it and stated it was illegal to EDC because it was assisted. I only ask the hive because sometimes his knowledge is a bit skewed at times. So anyone have a any info on the CA laws regarding assisted opening knifes?

Everything I find here...states I am ok

They're legal. As mentioned in your link, SB 274 clarifies the definition of a one-hand opening knife so they are not wrongly classified as switchblades.

More info here if you're interested.

Bullshit unless it's a local ordinance.

As Big_Bear noted, the portions of PC 653(k) don't apply to assisted knives that have a detent bias keeping the knife closed that must be overcome to open them.
