Why are there so many grey areas with AR rifles in CA?  Is it really hard to interpret some of them or is it just me?

In my experience, aside from being unconstitutional, many of them don't make much sense. They banned guns base off looks rather than function. Any time people notice this level of stupidity in the laws they start looking for ways to punch holes in them. They can beat us nut they can't keep us down. Besides, AR's rock, why would anyone not want to own one?

Well I was looking at the banned assault weapons list and mine wasn't on there but I know that it looks just like some of the others on there and also with the bullet button and a non pistol grip up front or no pistol grip and a regular mag release.  What exactly is it.  I don't do anything stupid when I shoot but you never know when and if someone will start snooping around.  It's just other people thay worry me.

Looks don't matter.  It's whether the make & model is named, period - once that's clear, the configured features suite is compared against 12276.1PC configurations and regulatory definitions in 11 CCR 5469.   The combination/interface of these latter two sets of law are what determines if something is an AW.

Given the fluctuating amount of misinformation here, I'd encourage you to join www.Calguns.net  for the latest in CA gun politics & laws & cameraderie...
