I think your DROS fee might include an extra fee for them handling the transfer. When I called a shop that was recommended by an out of state dealer to see if they would handle my transfer they told me approximately the same price as you were quoted. About $30 DROS and $35-$40 handling fee. The Stag receiver I was going to have sent to them was going to cost me $110 from an advertiser on the Arfcom EE. The California gun dealer had the Stag in stock for $160 plus $30 DROS no handling fee. If I bought two then there would be only one DROS fee and form.
So it was either buy from the gun shop $235 out the door for one or mail order for $180. I bought two from them so it worked out to be more like $215 each receiver. Still cheaper mail order but I figured I'd support the local guy.
They were doing a brisk business I might add. They were lined up at opening time.

Actually I screwed up my math there somehow. $160+tax+$30 dros= $202 buying from local gun shop. Only about $20  more than buying from out of state and having local dealer handle transfer. Pretty much same price since I bought two.
