| I have a fab10 trigger frame that has a closed magazine which means the rifle has to be split to load. The magazine is permanately mounted with a small rivet and an allen screw. Question is? Can i drill out the rivet and use the set screw as the means of keeping it a fixed magazine? I would still have to crack it in half , and use an allen wrench to loosen the screw to remove the magazine. What i'm trying to accomplish is making the magazine removable with a tool so i can pre-load magazines, and keep it legal. Thanks |

I have a FAB 10 (bought it about 4 years ago), and while there is a magazine there I was under the impression the bottom of it is altered in someway. I could be wrong but I don't know if a normal 10 round magazine will fit in the "well". I know it costs a little more to buy a new lower (and an other upper) but I ended up buying an off list lower and decided to turn my FAB 10 into a precision rig. I haven't purchased the precision upper yet (cost $$$) but when I do I will at least have two functioning rifles. |
Define best. I like using detachable magazines - heck, I got enough of them to build a fort with them - so that means a MonsterMan grip. When the fixed magazine solutions started comng out the FAB10 was too extreme for me. The Prince50 kit seemed a much simplier solution. When the MM grips came out I was home. I'm waiting on an MonsterMan grip for my fixed magazine FAL now. At least with the FAL you can top load with striper clips. |
| By best i mean... with the fab 10 it's been D.O.J. approved so i will have no issues what so ever with it. On the other hand i have the opportunity to trade it off for an O.L.L. which is much more desireable with the bullet button or monster grip, but then who knows what is in store in the future with these set-ups. They may get restricted. |
There is only one problem with this scenario. The Fab-10 mag has no floorplate, it is just a sawed off 30 round mag and cut down spring, you cannot preload. |
This is correct. FAB's do not have complete magazines. |
