Hey guys... I am currently deployed to turkey and can buy Huglu custom shotguns, and send them home via means of sending paperwork to ATF, then shipping them home. anything preventing me from selling these when I get home? Going through a dealer and doing proper transfers of course. |
Yes, you are neither a dealer nor importer. It's a felony for an unlicensed individual to import a firearm for the purposes of resale without a license. Nothing preventing you from legally importing, but selling them shortly after importation would definitely imply importation with intent to resell. If you hang on to them for awhile, you'll be okay. Your being active military, you may import personal firearms acquired abroad on a Form 6, but it precludes you from doing so for purposes of resale. You don't get any special privileges by being military. You'd need to submit the Form 6, then wait for approval before the guns are either shipped or brought back with you. This covers the ATF side, but you likely have additional DoD requirements too. And on the money side, I'd make sure you can actualy compete in price with the imported Huglus already here. Your cost after all is said and done may well be more than they cost here. |
