Question-- Is a semi auto AR with a very fast rate of fire trigger (Almost full auto) legal? In CA? Every pull of the trigger is a shot. |

Okay, it's true that we assumed what you were talking about. That's what happens when you ask a technical question but don't give any details. We have to guess. A trigger actuator is a device that essentially pulls your trigger for you. This can be in the form of a crank or a cam or whatever mechanical device that you can devise that will allow your weapon to fire at a high rate. So if it involves cranking, camming or other mehanical means of actuating the trigger it is illegal in CA. I don't know for sure but would assume that it involves the entire trigger group, not just the trigger itself. Don't get cute with the rules as you interpret it, get it in writing. But even that may not help you when they issue the search warrant. If it allows the rifle to fire more than one shot with a single pull of the trigger it is by definition a machine gun. That's a Federal rule. Look up shoestring NFA device. If it allows a form of bumpfiring, see the recent action on the Akins Accelerator. Either give us some details or take the answers that you get. |
