Could just fizzle out once someone with intellegence sees the arrest or this could be the big one.

DOJ needs some meds.  Even if the 6th phrase is added I wouldn't expect them to start grabbing rifles.

I doubt it happened.

For a while people were frequently posting secondhand accounts of OLL confiscations or arrests in LA & Orange Counties. Strangly whenever I offered to look into it the poster took his ball and ran home.

As for this specific story.

Two guys just happened to take their OLL into the gunstore.  Why? It's a gun store not a show & tell. The only guns i have ever taken into a gun store are the ones worn on my belt.  like most shooters i tend to take guns OUT of the gunstore.

But assuming these two guys decided "Hey, lets take our OLL to the gunstore, that will be fun."

Why was their a CALDOJ agent there? was he on or off duty.  If he was on duty there would likely be more than one even if he's just there for a routine audit. I've went to gunstores that were being audited in the past. Every time there was a sign on the door to the effect of "Sorry, we are closed today for DOJ audit"

When CALDOJ or even BATF is trying to account for every gun in the dealers bound book and match a every  firearm to every entry and every entry to an actual firearm, the last thijg they want is more firearms comming into or out of the store during that process.

I am familiar (and so is NRA) with the several cases reported in the Calguns thread.

The recent SJ incident is not due to DOJ.  There is one other non-AW AW case pending in Santa Clara court system;  on this one the DA is being a jerk but has no leg to stand on due to Harrott (and there were no other features to deal with).

Jury's still out on the Merced(?) store matter, we're trying to ge more details without compromising anything.  I suspect it was a regular DOJ audit/visit and they decided to grab the OLL rifles; the phrasing of the purported quote is very similar to when the Superior Arms lowers were seized from 10% FIrearms in late December because of the 'Auto' marking around the selector (even though the receiver is incapable of accepting full auto firecontrol parts suite).
