Yes, you'll need a different lower. Unless you've figured out a way to stuff .308 ammo into a .223 mag?

Of course you need different lower. The 308 cartridge is longer than 223. The mag well for 223 can not handle the 308.

You need to get some 308 OLL. MGI has modular lower receivers. Just change mag well then you are GTG.

MGI doesn't have the .308 module yet and are not releasing when, if ever, it will come out.

It appears to be a re-hash of the failed/pulled Bushmaster system, with updates to avoid Bushy's problems.

It will NOT be Armalite compatible.

If you want an OLL 308 *now* your _only_ current legal choice is the Vulcan/Hesse 308 lower.  Quality is not great but it appears it'll work OK with Armalite uppers - and the upper does all the work anyway.  The  fixed mag is apparently a DPMS 308 mag, and may have issues (at least in this lower):  you can use Armalite mags if you shim their sides with, say, some shim.

Armalite (and Knight's/Stoner) seem to have moved the most 308 systems and have the years of experience and sales volume to get the bugs out.

My (legal, reg'd) AR10A2 has been flawless and is tremendously accurate (esp notable as it has a chrome-lined barrel that's not free-floated).
