Just recently purchased a 10/22 and was wondering if there were any sort of restrictictions when modifying it (the stock being my main concern).

I am well aware that the magazine capacity has to remain at 10 and im happy with that. But i wouldnt mind a pistol grip or thumbhole stock out on a long day of hunting. Any help would be great, thanks in advance.

I don't think rimfires are regulated by any of California's assault weapon laws, meaning that you can do whatever you want to it.

Pretty much as long as it follows federal length laws (16" barrel and 28" overall as the minimums), isn't an NFA weapon (short barrel rifle, full auto, suppressed, etc), and doesn't have a fixed magazine with more than 10 rounds (tubular magazines have no limit) then it is good to go.

Essentially, you can do ANYTHING to your Ruger 10/22 in regards to aftermarket parts.

What about folding/Tubular stocks?

Rimfire rifles are NOT affected by (Kali) assault weapon laws, so you are only limited to the short barrel rifle law of min OAL of 26" (and 16" BBL). The feds measure OAL with the stock open. The Cal-DOJ may measure with the stock closed.

Tube mags are found on Marlin 60, 57s and some lever/pump action Winchesters. Its a mag that runs below and in line with the barrel. Specifically expempted from Kali AW law.

I think thanks goes to SASS and other cowboy type shooting organizations for the tube-fed magazine exemption. Not sure how many high capacity tube fed .22 rifle's there actually are though.
