So I just might be comming back to California. My stint here in PA is comming to a close and there is avery good possibility I might be stationed in Camp Pendleton or MCAS Miramar (5 minutes from home).

You might be saying this sounds great and all, but the problem is that I bought a murderous genocide enducing "assault rifle" with baby seeking bullets according to good ole California legislature.

Can I bring my Barrett (wait, hold on now) M468 into the People's Republic of California? Is there a loop hole I can exploit, modification to have done, or a paper to fill out?

The promise of a cold beer of your choice awaits you if you can help me out.

I appreciate your help!

Barrett M468 is not on the Commiefornia ban list. If it is modified to a fixed magazine configuration, it is perfectly legal. Once you leave Commiefornia, convert it back to normal.

Military assault weapons permit.

You apply to the CA DOJ for an exemption.

You're good to go.

Anyone have a link to the forms or the number of the form for me to fill out?

Can I have the weapon registered in more than one state as to avoid registering before they come up with more bs legislation?

Thank you for the fixed mag recomendation. I guess I will be on the market for a mod kit.

Any more beer takers?

ag.ca.gov/firearms/forms/index.html

This is all I can come up with, and I see no "military assault weapons permit."

Sorry.

ETA: AW's look like no-nos to import, converting the mag to fixed should make you good to go.

What makes a weapon an AW in the eyes of CA law:

Look at the tacked threads at the top of the CA Hometown forum Something about CA gun law primer.

Bottom of page one.

Where the crap is Paul the slacker he's already done one and can walk you though it.

Paul, what happens once you left the Navy, or are they too slow to catch up on the paperwork?

But not if he's a California legal resident (don't get me started). The MAWP is for the legal residents of the 49 other states forced to PCS here.

They never sent me shit but within 90 days I was required to sent my rifles out of state.

Since you're not really "retired" but are on "Retainer Pay"  couldn't you have tried the "I'm still in a duty status" argument?

I fall under the CA resident side of things.

So the Military assault weapons permit is out of the question.

My best bet is to convert to 10 round? Or will I have to sell before I PCS?

That's pretty simple.  Go into personel and change you home of record to PA. get a PA DL and register your car there before you PCS to Cali.  Problem solved.

Where are you moving back to? You might be able to make a little money if you buy some "unapproved" handguns before you move back here, and then PPT them to members.

Active duty and non-resident ... I'm neither now!

I'm paying another $4000-$5000 in taxes now.
