We dug out all of the fishing gear today. I moved to San Jose back in December and I'm looking for a new fishing hole. My girlfriend was out with her grandma at "the german club" today and they were at Vasona park. She said lots of people were fishing there. Anyone ever been there or know of any other spots to fish down here? Thanks! -Karl

Go up to Lexington resevoir. Nothing worth catching and keeping at Vasona. There's also a couple small lakes off Hwy 9. Check map to find them.

If you just want to catch and release there's also Calero and "I forgot the name of the other". don't eat anything you catch there. Mercury levels are TOO high from the old mercury mines in the area. Just take the Almaden Expressway till it becomes a 2 lane road and keep going. It will go right past them.

Sweet I think I'll take the boy up to Lexington then. I've seen the Mercury warning signs allover the place but never knew why. Thanks for the info!

If you are in bicycling, there's a bike/foot path that runs along the creek all the way from near the Pruneyard shopping center all the way up to Lexington. If you're in good shape you can ride to the top of the dam. Most people walk their bikes at that point. The path itself is pretty level for the most part.

I used to live near where you are now and it was a regular part of my excersize regimen. About 8 miles one way IIRC. Goes through Vasona park and past Old Town Los Gatos.

Damn if I wasn't so beat from work all the time I'd try it. Maybe when I quit complainin about everything all the time I'll do that...Pruneyard is right by my house.
