Any recommendations for a gunsmith in LA/Orange Counties? I want to get a barrel shortened and rethreaded. thanks. |
If this guy is an elderly man, than I've used him in the past. He did fine work, and wasn't too expensive (if I can recall). I'm actually surprised that he's still in business, I thought for sure he would have passed away by now. |

That's a pretty simple operation. You might try ARFCOM member Hateca. Also, in Anaheim, you can try Arm USA. They specialize in selling precision rifles and do some riflesmithing work. TKoP, Yes. An elderly gentleman and considered one of the pioneers in 1911 smithing. |
If you are talking about an AR15 don't bother with these guys. I called them about the same thing and they stated "they don't work on Assault Weapons!" Great guys on .45's, I have had them work on 3 of mine, but they suck with that kind of attitude. I guess the second amendment only counts on certain guns Blackgun |

King’s Gun Works 1837 W Glenoaks Blvd Glendale, CA 91201 (818) 956 6010 -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- If you are talking about an AR15 don't bother with these guys. That was a real shock. Snobby assholes in every crowd. Cheers |

You stated the work was on a .308, so I'm assuming you have a FAL or M14/M1A or SR-25/AR-10. My recommendation is that you contact Surefire in Fountain Valley and ask for Tim Lafrance. He has all of the necessary licenses from BATFE and CA DOJ Firearms Division to work on anything you'd be likely to bring in, and many West Coast LE SWAT/SRT teams rely on him for guns and gunsmithing their MGs, SMGs, SBRs, SBSs and suppressed firearms. M203 or M79? GE Minigun? Lewis gun? Bren gun? M249 SAWs? Beretta 93R machine pistols? He's done them. M-14s, M-16s, M-4s, FALs, FNCs, AUGs, S&W 76s, Benelli M1 Entry Guns, Wilson Witness Protection 870s, Galils, Uzis, etc. are all part of his stock & trade. If your .308 is a bolt gun, then he does those too. Shortens 'em up for cans for police agencies to use in counter-sniper work. He used to do many of the guns for Stembridge before they quit the movie gun business, and has built many of the blank-firing MGs and custom guns used in the movie industry for over twenty years. Please be aware that he does not suffer fools lightly, so be prepared to explain what you want done and why. Also, be prepared to wait awhile. LE work always pushes private party work to the back of the line. |
