Ed Dinsmore passed away yesterday morning. He used to work at B&B gunstore in Westminster when it was still there. He was the resident gunsmith and one of few cool guys there. After B&B closed, he went to Fowler's Gun Room. He had had heart problem but seemed to be well. They told me yesterday he worked the day before, said good night, and in the morning gone. No other detail was given. Don't know how many here know him, but I will miss him. |
That's too bad. I don't know Ed and never met him, but I've been to the Fowler Gun Room a couple of times. |
He also worked at On Target in Laguna Niguel, and True Outdoorsman in Mission Viejo. You're right, he was one of the few good guys at B&B. Bummer. Edited to add a story about the kind of guy Ed was. B&B ran a sale ad one time in the thursday OC Register advertising police trade in 870's for a steal. I showed up shortly after they opened, sale ad in hand, to buy one of the 870s. One of the prick B&B employees informed me that they sold out before the ad even ran, becuase they advertised the same guns in the western outdoor news a few days prior. I was pissed becuase I had driven 45 minutes one way to buy a sgn and they were sold out. Ed knew me from shooting IPSC at On Target. When he heard me bitching he told me he had set aside one of the police trade in 870's for himself, and that i could have that one. That's the kind of guy he was. He gave up the shotgun he had picked out for himself to make a customer happy. Not many gun store clerks would do that. BTW: I believe Ed was a Marine too. |
