Is it true the Colt Python 6" (blue) finish is not legal to purchase in Calif??? Only the stainless steel model is legal.

Anyone know???

Nope, not on the list. You could always buy one used or blue your own if you have to have blue. What do they run now ... about $1200?

they are not on the list of handguns certified for sale in CA.  The only way to buy one is via private party transfer from another individual that also resides in CA, or if your folks live out of state he or she can buy one and legally transfer it to you.

How do you "blue your own"?  Stainless steel does not take gun blue, you can probably discolor the metal, but that's pretty much it....

Can I buy it from Cabela's and have my FFL dealer do the transfer?? Is that legal???

The blue run about$900 and the stainless run$1200 at Cabela's

Yes, but only if the gun is on the list, so in this case you can only get the stainless.

Luckylui: You're pretty much screwed if you want to buy a new blued Python, unless you can find a private party seller, you're good. For all of the trouble you must go thru to save $300, probably not worth the effort, probably easiest just to buy the SS model and be done with it, or not buy it at all.
