| Can a flash hider leagally be shipped to California? |
There is no longer any meaning to "post-ban" or "pre-ban," in California or anywhere else (except maybe New York). Owners of registered assault weapons in California are free to install flash suppressors on their rifles. California's assault weapons law says nothing about bayonet lugs. |
Where the heck have you been? The terms pre ban and post ban have been relegated to the history books. I hope for forever. |

Just have to be careful of creating a Ca. defined assault weapon.... Springfield M1A has a Ca. bastardized version with the muzzle brake, taking it off and putting a flash suppressor on would be creating a Ca. "assault weapon" by their more strict definitions. Putting a flash suppressor on a Ca. registered AW in celebration of the sunset of the federal ban, that's perfectly fine. Same should go for putting a flash suppressor on a bolt action rifle, just gotta watch semiauto configurations with detachable mags while keeping an eye on what Ca. considers to be a Ca. assault weapon. |
Sounds like the guys who make the Vortex.. Smith somethingorother. I called and asked to order one and all was good and nice until I gave my mailing address. The guy on the phone said it was illegal for me to try to get them to send one to CA and even after I explained that it was 100% legal they angrily nearly told me to fuck off. Nice guys. I ordered a Phantom from Bushmaster the next day. |
