My wife and I have made a commitment to ourselves to donate regularly to 2 causes annually that we believe in. Something that we can see, touch, visit and participate in. One of those is the Collier County Honor Flights. I think most people are aware, the group that flys vets to WDC to visit the War Memorials. I know how much it meant to me to visit these Memorials, I would like to help the ones who really deserve to see these special Memorials. So far, we have only donated, but I want to become involved.  I have a busy life (like most) but I am committed to go, on November 4, to RSW, to welcome home those Vets. The November 4th flight, replaces one postponed from Sept. 23rd due to Irma.
If you take the time to watch either of the videos below, you may see what moved me to support this cause. The flights usually depart around 6 a.m. and return around 8 p.m. The info is in the Collier Chapter website below. I made this decision because I thought I have run my mouth about supporting Vets plenty. It was time for me to "put my money (and efforts) where my mouth is".

My wife actually participated by going to DC and escorting a veteran.  This was a few years ago.  We are going yo sign up, (both of us) to escort them next year.  It is definetely a surreal event to be at.  I couldn't believe the amount of people that were waiting to welcome them hone.  It is quite emotional as well.

Good on y'all. It will be my first personal involvement outside of donations. I would like to volunteer as well, but I figured a supportive visit would be a good way to feel out the organization.

You will truly enjoy it.  It's definitely moving.  If my wife & I weren't on the other coast that day, we'd be there to welcome them home.
