The wife unit and I will be heading over to LBK in November for a few days.   While I live in Cen FL, and have been down as far as Treasure island, never been to LBK.   Any good restaurants, relaxing things to see, do, etc.?   I think we will be at the Cas del Mar and she wants to be able to walk to stuff without getting in the car.

thanks for any suggestions!

Will have the G26 on board for protestors.

There aren't a lot of restaurants on LBK and it's not a touristy destination (on purpose).  If you want a quiet beach, golf, or fishing then it's a great place but it typically caters to wealthy retired folks and some pro athletes (mostly tennis and golf) so no amusement park activities will be found.  It'll be worth your time to visit Mote, on the south end, to tour the marina and aquarium.

Casa Del Mar is pretty much in the middle of LBK so there is nothing ('cept the beach) within walking distance. Head south to St. Armands Circle for walking around and a lot more restaurants.

Restaurants on LBK proper:

Harry's Continental Kitchen

Euphemia Haye

Chart House

Mar Vista Dockside

Blue Dolphin Cafe

Enjoy!

Drive a mile further south and you have Lido Key.
Lots of places to window shop and a very nice beach. Plenty of good places to eat too.
(Armand circle is on Lido Key)
*Might be a bit pricey.

Might want to look into City Island, Mote Aquarium and a few good restaurants.

IIRC there is a free trolley that will run you from Anna Maria to Lido Key.

Final edit...LBK trolley Anna Maria trolley

If you're looking for some classic seaside fishing village fare, go north to Anna Maria Island and go across the Cortez bridge to Cortez, an active fishing village. Seafood Shack, Swordfish Grill and Tide Tables are great casual places with excellent grouper and casual atmosphere (Swordfish Grill can get noisy) and prices are pretty decent.

But yeah, not a lot on LBK and that's just how the locals want it, Plenty nearby but not really walking distance from where you'll be. There's a beach access at Broadway at the north end of LBK. Usually pretty quiet, great for shelling. A nice stroll from there is north along the beach to the top tip of LBK (called Beer Can Island...even though it's connected to LBK) ...there's a lot of driftwood and old trees stripped bare....kind of an eerie beauty.
