Am used to spotting things and found an old railroad spike from the 50's. Also was a bear on the trail we watched for awhile. |

Nice pics.
How far is the swamp from Lido beach? I've been offered the use of a canoe or kayaks. Wife isn't sure she wants in the water with gators. She doesn't seem to remember when we lived in the city and the lake we went to had a few gators. And a beach might have sharks. I can't wait for our visit. |

Quoted: Myakka River State Park is not too far at all from Lido. Good canoeing. Gators are no problem at all in a canoe. Unless maybe they are hungry and you have a small yappy dog on board. Mosquitoes are the real killers! https://www.google.com/search?q=Myakka+River+State+Park&safe=off&source=lnms&tbm=isch&sa=X&ei=WeNLVYSjGKzisASu6IGIBQ&ved=0CAgQ_AUoAg&biw=1265&bih=600 View Quote View All Quotes View All Quotes Quoted: Quoted: Nice pics. Big gators not used to seeing people hide from people, (this is why they are big). My stuff is in Venice somewhat near the interstate. But a little ways a way from Myakka River State Park. Might be cheap just to rent a canoe there, then to spend the time and gas money to pick mine up. But I do live about 5 miles from the Myakka river and Sleeping Turtle Park. But not a real turesty area, but I love it. |
