Planning a trip to the Panhandle in September. I'd like to teach my boys how to snorkel.
When I was stationed there (90's) we use to snorkel the jetties in the East pass. It had easy access on the West side (drive up) and you could get close on the East side also. Has this changed? ETA: Looking at the sat map, it's not a swim friendly as it was. |
| I fish out of the East Pass, and if you go during a slack tide on days the surf is not breaking it isn't a bad area. Just please have a diver's down flag deployed, and stay close to it due to the amount of boat traffic in the area. The west jetty is accessed at the foot of the bridge, and if the Water Taxi is running you can see if they can run you over to Noriega's Point from the Harborwalk Marina; if not you'd have to drive down Holiday Isle to the end to get to the east jetty. |
