Thoughts? Opinions?
Going down on Saturday to watch the ponies race, place some bets and drink some beer. My only experience with tracks was a few years ago in college me and friends would go to JCKC in Monitcello and that was always a good time. |

The quality ponies show up at Gulfstream during the late winter & early spring. Most of the horses that hope to run for a triple crown make an appearance at Gulfstream during this period. It's capped off by the Florida Derby which usually falls around Easter. That's really the time to go.
Nevertheless, the track is a great day out, irrespective of the time of year. There are a number of restaurants, bars and retail establishments as well as the casino and parimutuals pretty much year round now that the owners have had their racing card extended. The free parking, free admission, and a scenic track would be worth an outing even without the other add ons. |

Would concealed carry be ok at the race track? Would it fall under the category of professional sporting event or would it be prohibited because of serving alcohol? Dog races are professsional "sporting" events and I believe it's fine to carry at the dog track. The statutes refer to professional "athletic" events and IMO, the jockeys are indeed professional athletes which precludes carrying a firearm.
