FUCK I-4
That is all. |
|
An old Family friend of mine who was once the Sheriff of Polk County told me a story of his days in the FHP in the 60's. He stated that they would send him out on the third shift to run Traffic out on I-4. He said that he would sit out in the median and when he saw a car coming he was so excited that he didn't care how fast they were going. |

I thought we already had a thread slamming NYers and NJers. |

OPs thoughts nailed it. I used to have to go between Tampa and Casselberry weekly and it SUCKED.Hard.
On no road I have ever driven have I seen such a lack of awareness of "slower traffic keep right". So many dipshits that seem acutely fascinated with viewing cows and trees from the left lane doing 60MPH. |
| Drive it two out of every 3 days for work, luckily l miss rush hour. I used to drive from Sarasota to Orlando once or twice a month as a courier and l would charge the shit out of the people because it sucked so bad. Was nothing to not make it round trip in 8 hours. |

When I-4 was being built through Orlando and an overpass went in, we would grab cardboard and slide down the fresh grass on the embankment. Towns change, life evolves. we did the same til the time we found the one that had sparse grass and plenty o' sandspurs |

Jeez you bed wetting crybabies. Drove I-95 from WPB to Miami for years......a warzone in 8 lanes when it was moving. Later moved to CF and thought I-4 was a pretty nice drive. Yep. I-4 can be a pain in the ass but after I spent 8 months in Miami and drove I-95 every day I-4 didn't seem so bad. Pretty much any traffic in Miami though will make Orlando look tame. |

Let me reiterate: FUCK I-4 Let me add a "fuck I-95 during yankee season, especially once you hit South Carolina." A couple of years ago I drove up to North Carolina taking I-95 on the first leg. It was a ridiculously slow pace the whole trip with people driving like idiots the whole way. Never had a trip to NC like it, before or since. I just happened to notice that almost every other car I passed had Canadian plates on it. Coincidence? I think not. |

Quoted: A younger, dumber me may or may not have blown past a cop on I-4 at 115MPH one night heading from Tampa to Brevard... I think he was asleep, 'cause he didn't even turn his lights on. I did slow down to 80, though. I miss my old Lincoln. I did 80+mph yesterday and PASSED several. LE doesn't care about speeders, they're too busy mopping brains and doing accident reports. I have NEVER heard of anyone getting pulled for speeding - as long as I-4 moves, as far as I'm concerned, LE is happy. |

I've seen some fucking RIDICULOUS shit on I-4, in the presence of LEO's, and not a fuck was given.
I think if it's moving, it's acceptable. lol? |

I commented to a friend just the other day that in all my time in Orlando, 2001-04 and 2007 to present, I've never once seen a car pulled over for speeding on I-4 between about John Young in the south and 436/434 in the north. I've seen people pulled over south of Conroy, especially around the Kirkman exits, and north of 434, but not in between. I've been in rolling lockstep with a cop and a blue million other cars at 85 mph through the Par-Fairbanks-Lee-Maitland Blvd stretch and nobody blinked an eye. I've often wondered if there's an informal "don't fuck with the flow of traffic through downtown" thing going on with law enforcement. |

He always hodes in the same spots though. |

Probably because it is impossible to get above 10MPH on that godforsaken stretch of highway? |

I don't drive it between 7 and 9 a.m. or 4 and 6 p.m. I feel sorry for the commuters that are forced to. |
| I drive 10 miles of I4 twice a day. Now that the new St. John's Bridge is done, it's not too bad. It's when the occasional asshat does something stupid that screws up my day. Two weeks ago, a guy swerved in front of me and flipped his SUV twice. He was just in a hurry. |

I-4 is the most poorly engineered interstate I've ever seen. It goes straight through the city-center, has twice the number of exits it should, has left-lane exits destroying the "slow traffic keep right" concept, and the "Fairbanks curve" has a "flat" bank that no amount of grooves or asphalt will fix.
That being said, when I moved to whOrlando from S.FL twelve years ago, I remember thinking how well traffic flows up here! |
