This response was received at 4:11 pm in my mailbox.  Guess I got one for each letter.

Dear Ms. Minx,

Thank you for writing me regarding the Second Amendment to the U.S. Constitution.  I understand this is an important issue and I appreciate hearing your thoughts.

The Second Amendment to the U.S. Constitution states "the right of the people to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed."  I hold the fundamental belief the Second Amendment should not be altered.  At the same time, I have always been open to measures that would keep guns out of the hands of criminals and the mentally ill.

In light of the recent tragedies, some have suggested restricting gun ownership and have suggested ways to curb gun violence.  I am always open to ideas on how to stop violent crimes, however I have concerns when these suggestions are solely directed toward restricting gun ownership. Given the Constitution's clear stance on gun ownership, I will continue to support an individual's right to own firearms.

It is an honor and a privilege to serve you as your United States Senator.  I appreciate you offering your opinion on this issue.  If I can ever be of any assistance to you, please do not hesitate to contact me.

Sincerely,

Marco Rubio
United States Senator

This one was received earlier in the day.

Dear Ms. Minx,

Thank you for writing to me regarding the tragedy in Newtown, Connecticut. I share your concern for the victims of this tragedy.

My heart breaks for the victims and families impacted by this senseless act of violence.  In a world that can at times be defined by its darkness, children are a reminder of what is good, cheerful and beautiful about life. An act of violence against these defenseless young people, as well as the faculty and staff who dedicate themselves daily to educating and caring for them, is a deed of unconscionable evil.  I pray that God holds Newtown close as the community continues to heal from this tragedy.

In the aftermath of this unspeakable tragedy, like millions of Americans, I am looking for public policy changes that might prevent such a horrible event from happening again.  I continue to be a strong supporter of the Second Amendment to the U.S. Constitution which guarantees citizens the right to safely and responsibly bear arms.  At the same time, I have always been open to measures that would keep guns out of the hands of criminals and the mentally ill.  In light of this horrible tragedy, I am open to new ideas to prevent mass tragedies like this from happening again.

It is an honor and a privilege to serve as your United States Senator.  I appreciate your concern regarding this situation.  If I can ever be of assistance to you, please do not hesitate to contact me.

Sincerely,

Marco Rubio

Got the same response, and worth almost as much as not replying atl. It could mean anything from "NO, I won't vote for any new assault weapons ban" to  "Yes, ban them all lulz""

I called Marco Rubio's office today to ask how he was going to vote on the weapons ban bill. They said he plans to vote no on the bill.

They also said they are getting a boatload of calls wanting him to vote FOR the ban. They said that we should have all our friends call to let Rubio know how we feel and to encourage Marco to vote no.

Marco Rubio's office number is 202-224-3041

Friday 6 pm and his inbox is full.  The plan is to start calling 8 am Monday morning and call through out the day multiple times, every day. Phone calls are faster and an instant ping for us to be heard.  The anti-gun and legislative system seems to be moving really fast now.
