Has anyone gotten or know about the process for obtaining a temp teaching certificate in FL? I have a Bachelor's Degree, so if I pass a test (I don't think I have enough courses in one field to qualify that way) I am eligible. Website is not much help on the details. Are there any prospects for being hired with a temp. certificate, or is it a dead end? |

When she get's home from her other job I'll ask her about the steps. I'm pretty sure she got her certificate to sub after taking the FTCE test and getting fingerprinted/background checked for the school district. |

My wife went through it, but never finished.
Florida reviews your qualifications, and if you meet the standard, they will issue you a" letter of elgibility" for a teaching certificate. This allows you to be hired as a teacher after which you are peer reviewed and checked out by the state , and if found acceptable, issued a permanant " Teaching Certificate". After the housing crash, local counties laid off thousands of teachers, hell my county laid off another couple hundred this year, so with the hiring pool flooded with experienced teachers, my wife gave up and went back to school to work on something yet undetermined in the medical field. 12 years of marrige and still a single income..... |

Wifey says you can get hired full time with a temporary certificate, but you have to get the professional certificate before your temp one expires.
Here you can go through the steps for the temp or pro. If all else fails: Educator Certification: U.S. Domestic Toll-Free Number: (800) 445-6739 |
