I have some family coming into Ft. Lauderdale from the Left Coast this weekend. None of them have ever shot but they all want to give it a try. I'd like a recommendation on any Broward indoor ranges, preferably one that allows 5.56 as they really want to try an AR. Indoor is important as I don't want to get rained out. I recall seeing a shop and indoor range off of Atlantic near Pompano Beach but I don't remember the name. Anywhere in Broward is fine as long as it's indoors. Friendly staff is a plus. Thanks for your help and advice!!! |

thats National Armory, that caliber is fine there and rapid fire is allowed. price is a little expensive per hour, but the range is only about a year old give or take. now i shot rifle and pistol and they charged me for each on the same lane,,,, i thought they said i would be covered by shooting rifle but when it came time to pay i had to pay for both. so i suggest just take rifles if you go there. unless price for a one time deal is not a problem. a couple other ranges may allow that caliber but sometimes they are picky on the ammo or you have to be sitting or shoot slow. so keep that in mind.
here is their website http://nationalarmory.info/ the for sale prices go from good, to crazy also for a real treat for your friends they have a ,50 cal rifle for rental, but im sure its a expensive rental.. but hey they wont forget it. |

Delray Shooting Center is only a bit north of Broward at the Linton Blvd. exit of l-95. 2 100 foot indoor rifle lanes. I've never used the rifle lanes at Bass Pro Shops in Dania call them to see if they are AR friendly. bass pro they would let you shoot AR, but you have to pass the magnet test with whatever you bring ( a real stupid pita, spent a fortune on ammo there as they generally fail most surplus rifle ammo, a gimmick im sure), and last time i was there you had to sit down while shooting rifles. its also a pain in the ass getting everything locked up at the front door and unlocked at the range, then locked and unlocked again when you leave. but if you want to take them shopping there and to the restaurant as well, then its not so bad. ive never shot anywhere else though that makes you lock them in cases on your way to the range. you would think they would have built a seperate range entrance. but its been awhile since i been there. Ill shop there, but doubt ill ever go the range there again after that. |

If you are located in Central or North Broward I'd recommend going a drop more north to the Palm Beach Shooting Center, you will be treated well and won't have to go through any BS to shoot.
Their rifle lanes are often available as well so the odds are you can walk right in and shoot. Friendly place right off l-95 at the 10th Ave exit. |

Check with National if you have to use frangible ammo. And the other places as well. Some require that if shooting an AR. And if you don't have it they make you buy it there.
Rifles are limited indoors in Broward. National & Delray & maybe 1 or 2 others in central Broward let you. National is ok, but expensive. I shot there 2 times & with my AK was about $30 for a hour. |

Shoot Straight which I know you guys all love, no longer let you shoot green tip or surplus steel core (which i've shot both there with no problems). Other then that it isn't a terrible place to shoot i suppose. Oh and the Sherrif's range is open this weekend up here as well. (Southern Blvd) |
