Guy to get us all on the same page - 6pm Friday 28th (tomorrow) @ Shoot Straight.  After shooting we will head to Square 1 Burger which is @ 5031 South Cleveland Ave 33907.  It is right around the corner.  Have a head count of 10 but that will fluctuate with everyone's life and Mr Murphy's law of work on Friday.

Been thinking about this for a while with my circle of misfits (Chas, monkey, osprey, JJ & bandit).  I have a group of non-arfcom guys that shoot Wednesday nights @ shoot straight then go for beer/burgers @ a place called Square-burger off fowler/41.  Thinking that we can do the same type of thing, with or without the shooting for SWFL members leading up to the election and all the chaos that may ensue, just to put faces with names and meet kindred spirits.

I know folks in Naples to Venice may have to travel a bit but to head off the puffy-mangina - suck it up once a month.....

Sound off if you like the idea and can make it....first things pick a day (wed with established group (go dutch) or weekend for travel time).

Seems like everyone is all over the place with work etc.  Also, I know shoot straight is a poison pill to swallow but it is convenient, you can shoot your own ammo, and now it's got a/c, so give the flaming Lebanese his $15/head for the sake of argument.  Realistically, we don't even need to shoot, I would go for a burger and beer, and save the loot for a Babcock FA day.

That said to get the ball rolling to simplify:

Sound off for shoot and chow?

Date options of Sept 27th or 28th round 6-7?

I coud do the 27th.

I have a convention in Naples then, and would be in Ft Myers around 1800ish, maybe a bit earlier.

I think it ends at 1630~1700 hrs.

Never been so Shoot Straight's range, so I'd say shoot and eat.

Well what do you know - I was wondering who all the locals were around here, and wondered if we would catch up one of these days!!  I moved here a year ago (thanks to advice from those here) after many good years with the Virginia HTF.  Count me in.  I'm in Sanibel, and am not afraid to cross the bridge .

Awesome!  I'll be in touch shortly - I actually need some glassword done .

Sanibel is fantastic.  My only regret about moving to the island is not doing it sooner.  I look forward to catching up one of these days.

I can see how the island life looks appealing to new people lol. I've been here since I was born and I'm 27 now and can't stand the beach life. Mostly the traffic issues on the island during season and people who stop traffic to take a picture of a fucking pelican or dolphin lol.

Hope you enjoy your stay.

I hear you! I suspect the same could be said for much of southwest FL.

I work from home, so that alleviates a LOT of what you deal with (I can only imagine!).  I live on a part of the island where tourists don't go, but I can ride my bike to anywhere I want to go in town.  I didn't even have a car until last month, so traffic doesn't bother me.  Once the restaurants get to know you, they'll save you a seat at the bar or a table no matter what season it is.  Sanibel (like most places probably) has "resident only" beaches so you can avoid the vacationers and foreigners when relaxing.  So overall - I see why some people don't like Cape Coral, Ft Myers, Naples or Sanibel in high season because of the congestion, snowbirds and tourists.  I think it's just the price of admission for living in paradise, and it doesn't bother me a bit.  Talk to me in 26 years, though!!

I look forward to meeting the SWFL gang in a few weeks, and then you can all laugh at the new guy who still thinks it's a great place to live

So are we on for shooting and dinner then?

Can you tell me about the range? Fees? Mandatory membership? PT test?

Whats the supervision like? If i bring the M16 will I have some kid in a yellow shirt demand my papers?

Can we arrange some lanes next to each other where we can rotate through?

its like 15 bucks, you gotta sign a waiver and shit, the employees usually stay off the range when its busy unless they're cleaning up shells or something. i brought my ar there once and i've never had any interference with them. you can use your own ammo. and shoot up to a .30-06. if it's busy we can only get what lanes are open, if we are lucky we'll catch them at a good time. i think there's only 10 lanes. i'll try to answer any other questions you have man.

Paperwork takes about 5 mins.  There is no competency test.  M16 is fine sometimes they look @ your stamps, sometimes not.
