Sorry if this has been covered, just wanted to know if any of you guys in South Florida had any input.
I'm going to take the CCW course tomorrow, and I'm choosing between Big Al's and Pembroke Gun Range. I assume that the classes shouldn't be a problem, etc. But I was wondering if anyone had any issues. Pretty much I've had many people tell me (not meaning to badmouth them, just have heard) that Big Al's is pretty terrible as a range, and I just wanted to know if anyone had any issues (or had heard of anything) with their CCW class. I mean, it's probably really hard to mess up a CCW class, but I'd rather not have to deal with any stress, etc.
Sorry to bother you guys. Just hoping for some input.
Thanks.

I went to big Al's back in 08.    It's basic.  A long video, a little discussion, & then a few rounds from a revolver.  They did have all the paperwork pre fill out though & took your picture. All in one place deal. I think it was $75 at the time.

If you can find a class that is more detailed I'd pick that one. You don't really get the knowledge from the basic classes I would think you'd need.  If you do go that route make sure to get some additional training.

Thanks all, ended up going to Big Al's, just cuz it was the closest. It wasn't bad, sort of boring but I expected that. At the end the instructor made it sound like FL no longer does mail in CCW applications and that you have to go to one of 2 offices in the S Florida area. Anyone know anything about this? Am I really THAT out of it?

You can still mail it in though.  The backlog is no where near what it once was.  The local office app time you get may be a month out anyway.

The only stupid question is the one you don't ask.... go the appointment route. easier, faster, less chances for mistakes and they have availability this whole week... the Miami office is always available.... take a postal money order, I believe it speeds things up (can't prove)... the average waiting time is between 5 to 20 days....

Ok, last post (I promise )
So I had my appointment at 1, left at 12, got there at 12:15 (severely overestimated traffic). They let me in at 12:30, was done at 12:50 and was told it should take 2 weeks.
Super awesomeness.

That's cool there was no wait.  2 of my friends had to wait 3 weeks for a app at west palm.
