My wife and her friend are looking to take a basic pistol class in the Miami area, both are novice shooters and are looking to learn the fundamentals. Does anyone have any recommendations for an instructor or particular training class?
They are looking for a class that is 90% range time, rather than classroom instruction. Thanks. |

You just missed a 'Couples' NRA basic pistol course held at Henry's last sat july 2nd.
It was taught by "Charlie group operational" and the attendee's were most husbands and wife's from the nuke plant, mixed with some military and LEO husband/wifes. It was freakin awesome!! The wives had some basic shooting contests where the winners recieved 5.11 gear for thier men, after lunch(which they provided!!!) About 8 of the couple also elected to sit the CWL test for an additional 40.00 a person. The Homestead mayor Steve Bateman attended and enjoyed firing the 'toys' brought by the instructors. Thier website is charliegroupoperational.com I believe. Call the number on the website,I remember them saying there is another 'couples' basic NRA pistol class in july again. The instructors are Combat veterans and I would highly recommend them to anyone Regards |

I shoot with these guys about 3 times a mth
Tactical Firearms Academy Good instruction and lots of opportunity to shoot. The next tac I class is 7/30 TACTICAL PISTOL I This fun and dynamic course is the introduction to the art of tactical shooting. This course combines the fundamental and essential skills necessary for combat marksmanship with the tactical knowledge required surviving with a pistol in a hostile environment. Emphasis is placed on the basic shooting skills and developing tactical applications for those skills. Topics will include: Weapon safety and handling Grip and Stance Pistol presentation and firing techniques from a holster Pistol marksmanship principles Dot drills Reloading and malfunctions The course consists of nine hours of live fire training on an outdoor range. A certificate of training is awarded to those students who complete and pass the course qualification administered at the end of the course and exhibit competence and safe gun handling skills. Successful completion of Tactical Pistol I is required to advance to Tactical Pistol II |

Andy is sitting in my kitchen teaching a private class for my wife right now..... I should mention that the only association I have with him is I keep taking classes from him. I was infantry and he teaches the same methods we were taught and the refresher is nice.
Andy teaches everything from CWL to machine gun.... He placed 1st at Knob Creek , well a bunch. |

Thanks for the recommendations guys. OP let me know if I can help ...
FYI, I only teach private classes at this time. The basic CWL class is 3-4 hours in the classroom and an additional 1-2 hours at the range. All my students shoot a minimum of 100 rounds of 9mm ... |
