Hey Gang,

Im thinking of having my S12 barrel cut down with a flash hider/ brake welded on. Am I correct in thinking that the minimum total length needs to be 18.5 when its done? Also, who in south FL does this kind of work? Any recommendations? And approx how much$ ? I appreciate any info you can provide...

Regards,

Luis

I cant recomend anywhere locally to have the work done but 18 in is the legal limit. It is worh knowing that shortening the barrel wothout opening the ports might cause the gun to no longer cycle with lighter loads

Hmm. Didn't think taking off a couple of inches would affect it. Then again, all I shoot is 00 through it. You think it would give me a problem? I'll check out the saiga forum too...

Thanks guys!

Are there any Saigas actually for sale in Florida?  All the places online that have any in stock have doubled the price.

the ones at the gunshow were all marked up  high, saw a .410 for $599   but the cheapest S12 i saw was $899 with a 5 round mag a and a drum.

most others had some tromix parts and were $1200 and up.  hope they drop down to reasonable again.

Yeah thats crazy.  That's what I saw at the Orlando gun show last weekend.  Vendors catch wind of anything and they immediately jack up the price.  There is no ban on the import of these things yet that I know of, but it's not stopping the price increases.

These were like like $400 4-5 years ago right?

There was a vendor at the last gunshow I went to, I think it was SS, had a sign basically

saying  that they were going to be banned from import. Gun Dealers are their own worst

enemy sometimes.

they were $450-$500 a few months ago. but once the word of the ATF paper came out, the panic and jacked prices started. the saiga rifles are still in that range with some under $400 but not sure how long that will last.
