Can anyone make a recommendation for a talented gunsmith, preferably (but not necessarily) in South Florida?  I need to have a flash suppressor that is pinned to my AR's barrel removed.  While I would prefer to just hand it off to someone in Dade or Broward, I would gladly mail it if that's what it takes to get the upper in the hands of someone who is skilled.

Thanks in advance!

If you're trying to make an SBR, you might be better off just replacing the barrel. It's not much more expensive and you won't have to worry that the barrel was damaged when they pinned or welded or drilled or unwelded the flash suppressor.

If you just want the FS ripped off, I believe ADCO does this service. You would have to mail your upper off though.

If you are wanting your barrel chopped/crowned/re-threaded, Spike's Tactical can do this (as well as ADCO and Ballistic Advantage).

Thanks all for the input...more questions/info:

OSPREY21:  I started with the dremel and have shaved a bit off the area where the pin is.  It's still firmly in place.  I'm kind of nervous to go any further as I think I'm likely to ruin the barrel. I'm kind of thinking along the lines of the Hippocratic oath (i.e., do no harm!)

HENDRICKS5150:  I sent ADCO an e-mail and left a voice message, but never heard a word from Steve.  He was actually my first thought, since he did a great job cutting and crowning my 10/22 some years ago.

SIGP226:  Yes, this is so I can make an SBR, but also so I can attach a can.  The flash hider presently on the barrel is too long to host a suppressor.  I need an A2 type flash hider.

Out of curiosity, how technically challenging is it to replace the barrel?  Do I have to worry about things like head space, etc?  If there's any chance that I could 'F' this up. would you recommend sending the upper to a smith for purposes of swapping out the barrels?

Swapping an AR barrel is easy with the right tools.  (Barrel vise, torque wrench, barrel wrench, etc.)
