Is there a waiting period on rifle purchases if you don't have a CCWL ?

Not for a rifle.  You just have to wait through the background check.  which takes like 5 minutes.

Well............... not in most of the state, but I think there a couple of counties like Palm Beach that do.

The minimum "cooling off period" is three business days for a handgun. County government can add long guns and increase it to five days. Note that business days and holidays are not business days and do not count towards the "cooling off period." This is because an extensive study found that you can not cool off on Saturday, Sunday, Thanksgiving, or Election Day.

Of course, if you have a carry permit, you do not need to cool off. I think you should be exempt from this if the store is air conditioned. It makes as much sense as the other provisions of the law.

What is the minimum age you have to be to buy a rifle here in Fl, 18 or 21 ?

Palm Beach County won't allow it. I'm not clear if this is allowed by the law or if they're being jerks.

True according to the statute: Florida Statutes

(2)The 3-day waiting period shall not apply in the following circumstances:

(a)When a handgun is being purchased by a holder of a concealed weapons permit as defined in s. 790.06.

(b)To a trade-in of another handgun.

SBR is 18, MG/silencers are 21.

Regular rifles are 18, you can take possession of a handgun via being gifted from someone (IE your dad) or in a private transfer at 18, must be 21 for handguns or handgun ammo at gun shops, etc.

So to sum it up my 20 year old son who doesn't have a CCWL can buy a rifle after the background check and not have to do the waiting period, correct ? He's coming in Tuesday night but leaving Friday morning so a waiting period would not work out time wise .

In Palm Beach County if you have already waited the three or five days and come to pick up your new gun from the shop;  you can buy another one and take it with you on the spot because you have already been deemed to have waited out the waiting period.

A concealed firearms and weapons permit is your friend.

This post is correct FROM AN FFL.

Private sale in state Form 4 - an 18 year old can buy a silencer, SBR or MG or Form 1 build an SBR/silencer.
