Not for a rifle. You just have to wait through the background check. which takes like 5 minutes. Well............... not in most of the state, but I think there a couple of counties like Palm Beach that do. This...Pinellas and Hillsborough do.
Surprised the hell out of me when I moved here. |

Is there a waiting period on rifle purchases if you don't have a CCWL ? The minimum "cooling off period" is three business days for a handgun. County government can add long guns and increase it to five days. Note that business days and holidays are not business days and do not count towards the "cooling off period." This is because an extensive study found that you can not cool off on Saturday, Sunday, Thanksgiving, or Election Day. Of course, if you have a carry permit, you do not need to cool off. I think you should be exempt from this if the store is air conditioned. It makes as much sense as the other provisions of the law. |

If you trade a gun in I think you don't have to wait either. True or Faults True according to the statute: Florida Statutes (2)The 3-day waiting period shall not apply in the following circumstances: (a)When a handgun is being purchased by a holder of a concealed weapons permit as defined in s. 790.06. (b)To a trade-in of another handgun. |

In Palm Beach County if you have already waited the three or five days and come to pick up your new gun from the shop; you can buy another one and take it with you on the spot because you have already been deemed to have waited out the waiting period.
A concealed firearms and weapons permit is your friend. |
