Hey guys, whats the verdict on carrying at a concert? They check bags but not your person, is it like an amusement park?

I know the law specifies sporting events, but i dont remember seeing concert events.

Thanks

Its a no-go unless you are going to some dive bar in which case you can't carry any way. You will be wanded or patted down after being asked to empty your pockets.

But I agree. Concealed=concealed.

The Amphitheater, depending on the actual concert, will do pat downs and/or
metal detector wands.

YMMV

The natural answer is a Glock 7. It's entirely ceramic and costs more than you make in a month, but you can make it past just about any metal detector in use.

I've been to the Ampitheater for numerous concerts. I've seen them do mandatory wandings as well as just random pocket checks. Different every time. Although I think they always check bags.

Fixed it for you. That's how it sounds in most of the commercials I've heard on the radio.

I've carried in there quite a few times with no issues. I used to run security at a large amphitheater and know how to watch for the line to pick. Most of these guys at the gates are what you would call motivated. Carry something small and put it right behind your belt-buckle to get in the gate. Once inside you can always hit a bathroom stall to move to the proper carry spot but if they're using wands they'll expect a hit at that location and won't want to pat you down there either. Most "pat down" procedures consist of feeling your pockets. Watch the lines and look for a slacker or someone who's getting about every 3rd guy. If you get to the line and it looks like they're going to check you hard just do a quick, "oh shit, i left my tickets in the car" slip out of line and go back and either leave it in the car or try another line. An ankle holster is an option as well since they almost never pat down or wand below the waist. Depending on the artist/band there's a good chance it will be bag check and maybe pocket tap at the worst. I've only seen wands out there for 1 show.

"NO WEAPONS" is the sign I always see.  That includes guns.

Venue's rules, and your choice to not patronize.

If you obeyed all the no weapons signs posted there would be no point in carrying at all. You'd be constantly taking off and putting on your gun. I carry everywhere I go. I've been carrying a concealed handgun for nearly 20 years for both work and personal reasons and no one has yet to "make me". That's the point of concealed. If someone finds out I have my gun that means I had to use it and I'll face the repercussions of being in a place that didn't recognize my right to carry. They can trespass me if they so choose but my family and I will still be alive.

I rarely see a sign like that, and consider the owners who post them.  Courthouses, Sheriff Offices, Airports and concert venues come to mind, an occasional restaurant or retailer.

Its my choice to respect those signs as well, you make your own choices regarding respect.

When someone fires off a round at a concert venue it gives shooters a bad name - it happens, just like at gun shows.  When it happens, it can often be traced to a tough guy who just had to CCW everywhere or he felt his life was in danger.

i not gone to shows in that neck of the woods but been to many shows around the state and it varies a lot. a few places always pat down/ wand etc. and others either never do or depends on the function. IE  a major band is almost always a pat down , where small or no name bands sometimes do and sometimes dont. Most of them either refuse you entry when something is found, or want to take it for good depending on the item. Some places i even seen them search cig packs looking for non legal smokes etc.  So if you spend a lot on tickets, and you choose to carry be prepared to either lose the money or have to sell the tickets if you wont leave it in the car if there is a check at the door.

having said that i go to a lot of metal shows and it can be a violent crowd if there is  a large amount of skins at times. seen others start fights but most of the time its skins so a lot of those shows are always pat downs.

last show with a pat down was, empty your pockets into your hands, show them what you had, raise arms they pat and wand, then inquire if it goes off.    most of you probably have been through this, but for the people that hardly go to any shows it can be expected sooner or later. have fun at the show.

as to what some of the others said, a lot of the time its a half ass check they do, but sometimes you get staff that do it by the book.

That's your choice, just like it's my choice to choose not to recognize someone who wishes to violate my constitutional rights. I see signs at quite a few places I go but unless it's a government installation or a facility with metal detectors I choose to ignore their signs in the same manner they choose to ignore the constitution. It has nothing to do with being a "tough guy" but has everything to do with my rights. In nearly 20 years of carrying I've never run across anyone who knew I was armed let alone had an AD. The problem here is if we keep giving up places where they "let" us carry before to long there won't be any place left that it's accepted. That's the great thing about this country though, some people will do whatever they're told and find it right and acceptable and some people will stand up for what they believe in. We're all entitled to our own opinions, are free to make choices and (should) be responsible for our own actions.

If I was subjected to a pat down or detectors I wouldn't go.
I went to a concert last year at the palm beach theater near city place. They didn't do anything.

You guys are going to the wrong events. Fer instance, I've never seen either detectors or pat-downs at the Florida Grand Opera. And believe me, that's one place I always carry.
