| Arfcomers: Has anyone been to World of Beer? (several FL locations) What do you think of it? |
| I get to the one in Westchase a few times a year. It's a little pricey but no where else locally (Tampa) has the selection of both draft & bottled beer. I grew up outside of Seattle and the craft/microbrew selection there is fantastic. This is as close as I can get to that experience without getting on a plane. The selection of bottled beers is good but I can get most of them without going to WOB. I go for the drafts. My only gripe is that they don't do food, not even appetizers. They advertise "delivery" from other local restaurants. To me, that just seems like a lotta' hassle for some snackin's to go with a few beers. |

I go to the one in Tampa (Westchase) every month or so. I love the place. You don't need food when you are drinking real beer, because you will plenty full from the beer, It's the only place I know of that has Hofbräu on tap. I mean, you can get it in bottles some other places, but damn is it good from the tap. They usually have some live music going there too, so its a pretty cool place. The prices aren't spectacular, but its worth it. -Ed |

Draft - Tanks Taproom, Dale Mabry/Fletcher Bottles - Kingdom Liquor, Adamo/Providence (Brandon) Both (with darn good food!) - Mr. Dunderbaks, Bearss/Bruce B Downs for starters. |

My wife and I moved to north Tampa in 1992. We found the Dunderbaks restaurant when it was still in the mall and we loved going to eat there. We liked it so much that my wife applied there and was hired while an undergraduate student at USF. She had previously worked for years at a deli in NY while in high school and was familiar with how a deli should be operated. The managers/owners of the restaurant had her doing things that she knew were not proper....some things were downright disgusting. She told the owners about some of these problems, but was told to just do her job as she was instructed. After several days it bothered her so much that she quit and we never ate there again. I don't know if the same people still own it but we NEVER would go back.
WOB is a winner in my book even w/o food. |
