The Central Florida Defensive Carbine Club has monthly shoots at Volusia County Gun And Hunt Club in Deland
which is only about 30 minutes from Orlando. Our next shoot is Sunday Jan. 24 we should have about 6 courses of fire.

Central Florida Rifle Pistol Club in Orlando has monthly 3 gun matches I'm not sure which weekend but it is
on their schedule.

I'd be interested in an "informal" gathering of gun lovers.  Got plenty of guns, just need to find the land.....

The hour and a half drive to Ocala is getting old.  Went this past Sunday, had to wait another hour to get a spot.

Why not join one of the local ranges and meet there with a group.  There are several outdoor members only ranges that might fit your bill.

Do you happen to know of an Orlando-area range that allows rapid fire?

Why don't you just join Seminole County Gun & Archery Association?LinkI'm a member there, really nice range, out to 300 meters on the rifle range, 50 on the pistol range, plus a 50 yd plinking range and a training range for club events. They have NRA instructors that put on all kinds of classes, various club events  like matches,  swap meets etc. Not AR oriented, but all inclusive. Great bunch that I've met in the last year. Some of the RSO's are Range Nazis, but I never see them except on public day, which I avoid. I go mostly weekday mornings, and often have the entire rifle range to myself. Costs about $350 to join, $125 a year once you're in, one morning with the training guys going over the rules, a checkout ride with a gun at the training range, two meetings and you're on your own.
Good luck with finding land to lease around here for a shooting range, almost every parcel is leased for hunting clubs at about a thousand dollars+ a peep for memberships. My friends and I spent many fruitless years sending letters and trying to lease a small piece with no luck. I've lived here all my life and know of no one who has land to let me hunt and fish on.(Dogone yankee speculaters bought up all the land). Maybe things have changed in the new economic enviornment, but good luck. I hunt on publc land since I can't afford a lease, but no target practice allowed there.

Edit: I think you can do rapid fire on the plinking range only

Most of the ranges are slow fire, but they do have a plinking range where just about anything goes. I always go with extra ammo in case some full auto people show up and let me try their toys.

Actually only 2-3 but they are such assholes it seems like there are a bunch.
This is why I tend to go early. Also to avoid the heat during the summer.

Overall its a great place with some BS rules like when you bring guests. Your guest must stay back when you shoot and when they shoot you have to watch. Both can't shoot at the same time and that goes at any range. I think it is just their way to try and force people to join.

Like Mook said, try the Volusia County Gun and Hunt Club.

Also like Mook said, check out the Central Florida Defensive Carbine Club.

Central Florida Rifle and Pistol Club has "action ranges" for just this type of thing complete with steel targets and the like.

Sorry to highjack OP, but he may be trying to avoid the range nazis as well.

This type of atmosphere is exactly why I haven't joined any clubs yet.  I appreciate the need for saftey, but it seems like most ranges just make things difficult in an attempt to be "exclusive."

Many are also populated by non-AR/AK friendly people, and I will not shoot where I'm not welcome...especially when I'm payin'.

I also work from 6:00am to 6:00pm, so this time of year, it's weekends only.

This sounds tempting.  Is it a dedicated area, open during all normal operating hours, or is it only on certain days/hours? (ie: always when I'm working)

The action ranges do not allow you to shoot AR's there in rifle calibers unless it is only at the Tac 3 Gun weekend shoot. It will allow pistol caliber carbines any other time or you can shoot 5.56 AR's on the rifle ranges on the back side of the action range.

Come shoot the Central Florida Defensive Carbine matches, you will get a lot out of it and meet a lot of shooters and make new friends.

I agree...more of a relaxed gathering would be nice.  I don't know of anybody who has the land, but I'd be interested in gathering if we can find a place (I'm out in Ocoee...not that far).

I've heard about an outdoor range in Lakeland that's public, but it's still a range with all the typical features.

To add to JThompson about Seminole County Gun and Archery Club.  Once you are a member you have your own gate card and come and go as you please.  They are open from dawn to dusk, 365 days a year.

I have been to public day there and also took my hunter safety course there, need to get on the ball and finally decide if I'm going to join.

I'm not the type of guy to go and join a club for $200 plus, then manage to shoot, have fun and meet people and maybe get lucky and find a half way decent person who shares my same shooting interests , Were on a decent size ar forum SOME ONE has land and wants to make some friends. NO ONE likes to shoot alone it's horrible "unless your clearing your head" Id rather go shooting on open land with 4-7 guys sounds more fun to make targets, build courses, share guns ,have a beer or two! help with installs, talk about the new toys coming out just bs.. no assholes, no limitations , Just a few mature guys blowing shit up.

If a grown man can't drink a beer or two with out feeling the affects and getting dumb there is a very serious problem but yes it would be safer with out any alcohol involved  but  I was using that as a example of just a relaxed calm involvement

I have to agree. No booze at the range or before coming to the range. If you want to drink, do so afterwords at a bar or at someone's house when the weapons are put away and unloaded.

Considering that your post count is still under fifty, a few people may be a little reticent to throw their trust into you.  I'm not saying that this is true, nor is there a conspiracy against you, I am just saying it would make sense in my mind not to completely trust you with a firearm around me when I haven't even met you in person without a firearm, let alone, inviting a stranger over to my house.

My post count?? asking questions and replying to questions builds you real world trust...ha if that was the case there would be some serious crimes going on..also
I would assume building or joining a ar group/team of friends would consist of first having a meeting introducing your self and what your about . ....lol thought that was a no brainier but thanks for the common sense input .

Not quite sure what world you live in, but I hardly consider an internet forum the real world, and I'm not so sure as to what you were implying with the crimes.  As I read your previous postings, it appears that common sense is not all that common for you.
