Hi guys, well I have been with out a job for a while now and am running on the last grand out of savings. I have my security guard licenses but can not find a job in and around the Indian River, Osceloa, Okeechobee, Saint Lucie, Marten, or Brevard counties. I am really getting frustrated by this, all of my friends can go out and find a job but when I do I get nothing. I have accounts set up on three different online job sights and I jump on every single job offer that they send me. So far nothing, but I just did an application for a storage company to day. I am praying that it works out and I get the job.
I am not limiting my self to security work ether. I have worked for years as a bookkeeper for my father's accounting business but the work is spotty and not always there. If I am lucky I can get $100 a month in the off season and during tax season my dad is to stressed out to work with. When I work with him at these times he just has to sit down and watch me do my work and tell me how do it it. I have told him that I am doing it the way that works for me and thank you for the advice. It ends up that we get into an argument and nether one of us gets any work done. My room mate gave me an application to work at ABC but almost everyone tells me not to work at a liquor store because I will be aiding people to get drunk. That is really lame imho because they will get the stuff weather or not i sell it to them. I am going to fill out that application to day and hope that I get highered. Also another friend is starting a security guard company and will higher me when it gets going. However, this person is semi unreliable so I am looking for another job to pay the bills till he gets his shit in order. Words of encouragement and saying that I am doing the right thing are needed, so are job offers. Thanks guys |

Have you tried Craigslist? Or maybe just walking around malls etc. asking if there are positions open; sometimes just the fact that a well dressed, well spoken, person turns up at the right time can get them hired. If you do go door-to-door take resumes with you to leave with people. If there are any big companies near you, check out their websites. Many large companies have their own career websites with all types of positions posted. Have someone critique your resume too. And if you want to write cover letters always write personalized ones, there's nothing worse than getting a generic cover letter with a resume. |

H&R Block is always looking for tax preparers around this time of year. All I have done is data entry not tax prep. So it is a good idea I do not know if I can get a job there. Going to try any ways. Quoted:
Are you prior military? Is your security guard license for armed security? I am not prior military and yes it is for armed. I have been debating the National Guard, the unit right by me is looking for people and they are an MP unit. Quoted:

I am going to go and do that tomorrow if I can swing it. And cragslist is a bust. Even applying for handyman work (which I can do) I could not find anything. |

You can go and apply with the Seminole tribe for the Brighton casino, they are always looking for people www.semtribe.com , YOu can also go to wackenhuts site as they are still based in northern palm beach county and maybe get security work with them. Just did the whackenhut rout, nothing there within an hour and a half drive. |

when I was very young My grandfather said to me " get a trade son, you will always have work or a job even when people are not hiring"
He spoke the truth, I went to trade school to become a machinist, but found a temporary job with an ice machine company. I then got my journeyman refrigeration card and after a few years the masters or state wide contractors licence HVAC/R and have never looked more than two days without finding an acceptable job. My father was an electrician, my grandfather a paint contractor who survived the great depression quite well. unfortunitly I do not have to worry with that now as I am retired/disabled and try to live off Social Security and investments My point being even in distress times if you have a mechanical trade ( mechanic, a/c tech., electrician, welder, ect) you will be able to support yourself and family even when you don't have a full job or no jobs are available. you can do a job for someone for money or for trading goods and services without the assistance of an employer or full time work and still do quite well moonlighting until finding work. my and my grandfathers 2 cents worth, over
A post bump, sorry |

Go military.... At the very worst three hots, a cot, and a paycheck.
I personally if I could do it all over would go Navy instead of Army. Navy you get to travel a bunch more.; In the Army the only time you travel seems to be to get shot at. Also, in the military, GO TO SCHOOL. Leave with a degree AND a trade. |

A post bump, sorry Very true. Whilst a lot of people I know are struggling, being a sparky has kept my head well above water for awhile now. |
