Hey guys
I'm headed down there next week for a wedding- My fiancee is the maid of honor so, I'll have a bit of time "to myself".... What are the must see things to do in Miami? Good bars/restaurants? where to get cigars also- I figure that it's easier to pick them up down there then bring them with me. I'm open to any other suggestions also. Thanks guys |

we're staying at Grove Isle Nice place. Centrally located. You will be in the Coconut Grove area. Check out Monty's on the Bay on Bayshore drive. Good conch fritters & frozen type drinks. Flannigan's on 27th Avenue is a local bar/pub chain with pretty good food overall. You can just walk the Mayfair and Cocowalk area and check out several of the bars there. Sandbar is pretty popular with the younger crowd. If you like ceviche, Jaguar serves some of the best I've ever had. Key Biscayne is pretty scenic and just a few minutes away from you if you want to take a drive. Crandon Park beach is there if you want to swim for a while. You also have South Beach and the Design District nearby if you are into the nightclub and trendsetter thing. As for cigars, you are probably better off going to one of the cigar factories in Little Havana, about 15 minutes away. ETA: I forgot this was ARFCOM. The closest gunshop is on 27th Avenue and Dixie Highway, about two minutes from Grove Isle. |
| Go to Calle Ocho (8th Street) in Little Havana. There are cigar shops everywhere, and great little Cuban cafes. IIRC Nick Perdomo has a big shop in Miami off the Palmetto somewhere...never been there, but I like me some Perdomo cigars. For a great steak, go to Capital Grille on Brickell Ave; for great seafood and oysters to go The River (not far from Capital Grille), for some cheap lobster go to Tobacco Road (right next to The River) on Thursday night (I think). There's a Smith & Wollensky on SoBe, but IMO all it has going for it is the view and the crackling pork shank...their steaks are mediocre. |

Tobacco Road lobster is tuesday night and you can call ahead and reserve... Tobacco Road
also, +1 for Le Tub |
| A place called B&B (Beer and Burgers) just opened up within the last 2 months at 18th and Bay in South Beach. They have great Burgers and other food, a good variety of Beers, and it's a very relaxed little place, unlike most of the the trendy, uppity, places that are all over South Beach. |

Thanks for all the help guys! Looks like I have some places to check out I've heard about "the bad parts" of town... If it's anything like North or Southwest Philly I know I don't want to be there anyway. Be careful here. Miami has some very rough parts and they are spread around all over. But wherever you are in Miami you need to be careful. Bad things can happen in the nice areas. Car Break in's are rampant around here. I've been here for 4 months and I know of at least 4 people who are here with me that have had their vehicles broken into while here. |

OP, you better watch your ass in the Grove. Let me tell you something, there ain't no bad part of town, it is all bad and I mean the deadly kind of bad. Enjoy your stay. |
