i have a S&W M&P15T. i shoot a 62.gr fmj (m855). anyway i took it cecil web range and found out i can't use the 25 meter range to zero it. can anyone tell me how to zero it at a different distance.  In the army we zeroed at 25m and the pacer target is for 25m so i'm stuck. any help would be greatly appreciated.
thanks,
sapper

My M4 zeroed at 25, why won't yours?  I'm missing something here.

when i went to the range they said i'm not allowed to shoot at on the 25m lane. which only leave me able to shoot at the 50 and 100. my weapon isn't zeroed so i am asking how to zero it at a different distance. for instance i have to zero it on the 50m range so where should i aim so that the point of impact will be as if i zeroed it on a 25m lane. or are there any ranges near cape coral other then cecil webb that will allow me to shoot my rifle at 25m so i can properly zero it?

I think he's saying they wont let him use the 25m range.

Try the improved battlesight zero here:  http://www.ar15.com/forums/topic.html?b=3&f=18&t=328143 (Assuming you can shoot at something over 25m.)

ETA: This also assumes you are using the A2 sights.

im not using the a2 sights. i'm using the popup sight from smith and wesson. it only has windage not elevation. i have to adjust front post for elevation.

Drive up to Knight's Trail in Venice. 40 minutes north of Webb. They'll let you shoot 25 there all day long.

We'll be at Webb this weekend, if you're looking to meet some fellow ARFCOMMERS!

I really hate Webb for this reason, sighting in rifles is a pain in the ass.

Will they let you shoot it at 50yrds ? A 50yrd zero works good out to 200 yrds .

if your rear sight has no elevation adjustment then just zero it with the front sight for elevation at 50 yards.  this is the improved battlesight zero, and will keep with round within 2.5in of POA all the way out to 200, where POA/POI at 50 yards will be POA/POI at 200 yards.

since you dont have an adjustable rear sight for elevation, you cant take advantage of something that i feel is very helpful.  on the A2 sights as well as the Matech 600m BUIS have adjustment for elevation in the form of range adjustments, from 300-800 (so only go to 600 i think, but mine goes to 800) on the A2 sights (and carry handle), and 200-600 on the matech flip up buis.  both also have a setting used specifically for zeroing at 25 yards, which will zero the rest of the rifle to accurately use the range/elevation settings.  on the matech is the little white line in between the 300 and 400 setting, and on the A2 it is one (or two on some i beleive) rotations up from the lowest 300 setting, and may have a little "z"  to show where to put the knob to get this setting.  i would suggest using one of these rear sights (lmt fixed battle sight incorporates the A2 elevation knob as well) as they are used by our troops, so they are proven (not sure on the lmt, but the matech flip up is standard issue, along with the carry handle/A2 sights) to be the best methods for iron sights.

otherwise like i said, zero it at 50 at be done with it.
